If you know the Internet fair enough, this should not be a confidential news for you: KO king Edwin Valero should've been disqualified in his recent fight. Finally I was able to watch last Thursday's fight and well... it looks pretty clear to me...

Compared to the Amir Khan situation when he was still landing the same combo on Kristjansen on the way down (but never hit him when Martin was actually down), the difference is clear: after a big punch landed, Shimada took a knee vs. Valero, held on the ropes and clearly showed with his free hand that he wants no more. But actually full two seconds after he grabbed the ropes, Valero landed another clean blow - and Edwin was very aware that Shimada was in no situation to defend himself... Remember Roy getting DQ'd in the first Griffin fight? Well... based on hitting somebody who's waiting for the count on his knees is illegal, Valero should've been DQ'd as well...

    What do you think guys?

dont rate valero at all myself. ive seen a few fights and its just plain aggression. fought misquera and noone else of any quality. would not surprise me if he punched a fighter when he was down. altho im sure tyson did the same many a time!

Clearly should have been DQ'd..I hadn't watched this one until now..absolutely rediculous. As you stated, Shimada clearly had enough and plainly showed it. Never had any real feelings towards Valero. But after seeing that..no real interest in seeing him again. That was just idiotic on his part.

A Valero-Soto fight would be interesting.

Yeah, I watched the fight two days ago and was thinking the same thing. What he did was ten times worse than what Roy Jones got DQ'ed for. He wasn't behind on the cards and he would have won the fight anyways, but I think the fight could have gone the distance if he didn't hit him when he was down. The Japanese fighter was down for at least 2 seconds before Valero hit him with another heavy, flush shot and hurt him even more.

I think it's pretty clear Valero doesn't have true one punch KO power. He blows out weak chinned fighters with his extremely aggressive attack and the fighters he faces with semi-solid chins get broken down over the course of the fight. He was beating this Japanese opponent all over the ring and he couldn't KO him until late in the fight after hitting him when he was down. The stoppage was questionable too. Valero's power is that of someone like Pavlik P4P, not of someone like Abraham or Ponce De Leon.

He's done it before. Unfortuneatly he knows that he doesn't get penalized.

definitely should have been a dq. you can see at he is indecisive as to what to do, the man is clearly down, and the referee is in between the fighters. totally classles move. but he will get his soon. they can only have him figting lower level competition for so long. with all of this hype, he has only one decent fighter on his resume, and mosquera did everything except what his corner told him to do in their fight.

Let him continue building his hype-train with his hopeless supporters, he'll be stopped emphatically the second he steps his competition up to B level. The guy is only slightly better than Ponce.

He's worse than Ponce. Valero doesn't have his power, workrate/stamina, or mental strength. I also don't think he has his chin. There are Telefetura level durable C level fighters out there who would stop Valero.

Not sure....but Valero was the better man which was clear. Wether he should be DQ'd or not he proved to be the better fighter and deserved the chance to move on.

All fighters had padded records moving up the ranks...Valero is no different. He has been fighting stiffer comp but lets get real bro....he just recently has been cleared to fight in the US...only in TX so he had to face the best of what was available Far East and he's been dimolishing his oppoennts who aren't just push overs.

You dont give Ed enough respect homie...he'll show he's the real deal when he gets his shot, but it's not like anyone is lining up to risk being KO'd...those who have all are sleeping. Valero may not be able to beat the kinds of PAC's or JMM's but he can do well and beat most of the other 130 and 135 lbs fighters.
