Shame we never got to see. Surely floyd would've elbow'd him to death had they fought.

    Watch the DeMarco fight.
    Elbows don't stop this guy.

    Valero would've given Mayweather hell.

    ONE.

One decent (not great) win at lightweight.

...and he didn't exactly look a dynamite fisted destroyer, in that. He beat Tony with skill and, primarily, speed. Through eight rounds he did no better against him than Linares would.

All due respect to DeMarco, but proving to be a lot faster than him and more skillful isn't exactly the marking of ATG material. He is pretty slow and pretty one-dimensional. (but, still a good fighter in spite of that due to his toughness and intangibles)

Good performance, but Valero was clearly not the wrecking ball at 135lb he seemed at 130. Fast, yes. Skilled, moderately. Insanely, brutally powerful...no. A lock to knock out Pacquiao, or Mayweather? Or even Guzman and Soto (other contemporary names that were bounced around for potential big match-ups)? No.

I always thought Demarco was nothing special.

He never was special, though I liked and often rooted for him. Good enough to be a belt holder but nothing more.

    Well said.

It's the same old fools on here who DKSAB and hating on Valero.

Edwin was about to move up to 140 after disposing of De Marco despite having to contend with a huge gash on his forehead leaking blood into his eyes from the 2nd round onwards.

Valero was a beautiful boxer to watch, he could be aggressive but could also roll with the punches and his footwork was like poetry in motion. Super fast hands and brilliant combination puncher too.

He also had massive trouble making 135lbs and would have been much stronger at 140 and 147lbs. Also he was a solid 5ft 6, exactly the same height as Pac and Ricky Hatton and he actually perferred fighting taller opponents with longer reach as he could counter their jabs superbly.

Valero would have wiped out the competition at 140 for the rest of 2010 and then moved to 147lbs by the summer of 2011 when he would have been at his peak at 29 years old.

Please, he was a poor mans Pacquiao and I think Mayweather beats Pac fairly one sidedly. he would have made Valero look silly.

Bobby Pacquiao was a poor man's Pacquiao.

I never understood the comparison really.

Pacquiao and Valero fought very differently.

...and Pacquiao would have thrashed him. (and thrashed all his super feather & lightweight victims just as easily if not more)

Bobby fought nothing like Manny imo. He had his own style. Valero had similarities in his style. He threw his combinations in similar fashion and jumped in like Pacquiao.
