When Valero gets into his Boxer-puncher counter punching mode, he looks like a young southpaw version of Kostya Tszyu...
the stalker-puncher SOP is kinda similar, but KT was more orthodox in his approach and more polished and selective in his attack.
i think he look s more like vic darchinyon, who i think has the ugliest boxing style out there....kostya was orthodox european style , valero fights in an awkward style- hands away from his chin- elbows out - and then CRACK incredible power. i do see the in - out - in again with the straight lead power hand - resemblance to Kostya that your talking about though. but KT was an incredible patient and crafty boxer. the best timed lead rights and shots id seen . he d out jab longer more athletic boxers all day, then lower his let hand, allow a counter left, then suddenly BAM throw his right over the top with full force. amazing dude.
agreed. kosta also countered primarily with straight punches from angles that snuck in tight around the arms and shoulders. valero is not economical and wings wide counter shots that, for an orthodox fighter, often would simply require one step back and a 45-degree turn to the left or right to counter the counter.
