Rios defence is very poor, Edwin Valero had a monstrous punch. You do the math.

a fight with Rios would have been more competitive, and i believe Rios has the edge... who did exactly Valero beat? 100% of win by KO?...doesnt Lemieux sounds familiar?

 

He had a monstrous punch against Caracas cab drivers, only "elite" boxer he stopped was DeMarco and he quit on his stool not by a KO. Brandon proved he can hang with a strong puncher like Acosta.

 

alas, another esb poster who wants to "have his point made" and cant just enjoy a fighter for what he was. Valero was a great fighter for what he was, he was exciting, and it is a shame that he was such an absolute disaster, because we never really got to see his true potential.

Im partial to hating rios because I think the kid is an absolute jerk off, but his boxing skills are decent (many flaws, but that comes with youth). So I would want to say valero based on speed and power, and that is what I voted on, but who knows....Very interesting matchup.

 

I think that Rios can take him right now, for sure.

valero was to fast and strong for rios. he was an animal in there.
i have read several quotes from the venezualan president saying valero was set up ect. who knows. either way this aint the place for conspirocy theories.

:deal Valero was a legend when it came to sparring and he showed he was a beast even when injured as he pummeled DeMarco like nobodies business, but having DeMarco as his best win doesn't prove anything. Seeing is believing and Valero is being hyped even after he is dead. Unlike Valero, Rios has 2 wins over highly regarded Acosta and the more dangerous of Peterson bros. Rios has an iron chin and an unbreakable will he fights much better than his childish, impish features suggest. I think Rios would of edged it and Valero would be lucky to get a draw. What I do agree is it would of been FOTD. Too bad.
