I don't rate Valero at all. Very exciting to watch, but even against Mosquera who is C-level at best, Valero struggled at times, couldn't get him out in a round. I just think his power is overrated, and he's way too open, him vs. Pacman at 135 would be a one/two round blowout for sure.

I think him vs. Katsidis would be the best fight for him. Would be entertaining and give us more of an idea of what level both of these guys are at.

To be honest, I doubt he'll fight this guy that's destroyed Santa Cruz, probably go for the Japanese interim champ, that's more his style isn't it?!? :)

For the record, I'd say Katsidis gets busted up in the first round, but takes Valero out by the fourth.

Valero and ring intelligence should not be mentioned in the same sentence. The guy doesn't have a clue but to swing wild punches. In fairness they have straightened up a bit of late, but Soto is by far the superior fighter.

No I'm not, I have an opinion on a fighter who has fought no one of great quality thus far, and in his one fight with half-decent opposition who was floored and extended into the 10th round.

I would love to be proved wrong. As I say, he's very exciting and someone of his apparent power-punching pedigree can only be good for boxing, in particular for the LW division.

However, for me at the moment he's a cult sensation. Ever heard of Lamar Clarke?

Valero would have been smoothly schooled by a Morales who was TKOd by Pacquaio in their rematch..

Too crude, boasting of a leaky defense, who throws incredibly wide and wild punches, however heavy they are, like a barbarian, how can you favor a guy like that over a Morales, even if that is a less than prime Morales?

Soto by obliteration. Valero punches hard, but little else. He looks like a little Incredible Hulk in the ring with a bad '70's porn haircut. Anyone who can box well and has a chin should be able to hold their own, and Soto's just a class above Valero at this point.

I think Valero needs this type of fight to prove he isnt just a crude heavy hitter who gets exposed in 3 or 4 by the elites. He did look good in sparring with Morales. I just dont see him having success right now against Marquez or Pac, he needs a little more defense. I would like to see what he looks like stepping up to a guy like Soto that would answer a lot for me.

I used to share that idea Tommy however I decided to watch Valeros more recent fights...He is NOT the crude puncher people make him out to be. He is infact as I've stated: A smart, quick, boxer/puncher with the ability to drop anyone in his division within the blink of an eye.....this includes Soto

I think Soto is a lot tougher than you're giving him credit for, he's no gatekeeper to the elites. Guzman stayed well away from him, not everyone can stay on their toes moving backwards like that all night long.

Valero seems to have more power, but he's nowhere near as sharp and technical. I take Soto in a bruising, short fight.
