I'm trying to figure who Edwin Valero should fight against for his first fight in Texas. He recently received a boxing license in Texas, after being banned to fight in the U.S. for four to five years due to a brain injury. He has had to fight anyone he can find around the world. He's undefeated, and has knocked out most of his opponents. However, many people criticize that his opponents were not top level comp which would give a more accurate guage of Valero's position in the featherweight divisions.

So as a safe bet, I've decided to put Humberto Soto as a hypothetical opponent for him. And since Soto is Mexican-American, a fight at the Alamadome in Texas would surely attract a great crowd.

Who do you think would win between them? Please vote, it's a poll.

Some people will go off the bat and say Soto without doubt.

I can understand that but Valero has a way more better chance in this fight than what people are giving him credit for.

Soto only comes forward which benefits Valero, and if Bobby Pacquiao could rock Soto no doubt Valero could do much worst if he landed flush.

Soto is better skilled and more experienced and has some pop. Valero is a decent fighter, has very good power and deteorated boxing skills and is very overrated. Soto wins. Valero too one dimensional to beat a seasoned vet like Soto

I'm thinking if this fight happens Valero will pull a Cintron-Margarito.

He's probably going to break down dramatically.

When Soto takes his best shots and sticks in his face for more he's going to find out the hard way why people think he's overrated.

Soto fights in straight lines so Valero won't have to go far to find him. It would be a good measuring stick to see if Valero has the goods.

Soto is too slow and doesn't hit hard enough ... I think that Valero is superior to Soto in footspeed, handspeed, overall speed, and strength.

Valero is by far the most powerful fighter in the division (if Pacquiao, Marquez, and Guzman decide move up)

I think that Valero is a good boxer, but often gets carried away and depends on his power a bit too much.

But his speed and movement will cause trouble for Soto - who was out boxed by Guzman (who's a power puncher)

Valero needs a co-trainer to help him on his boxing ... I think he has boxing skill but all he seems to work on is his aggression, cutting off the ring, and fast punching.

He paws with his jab, but comes back really fast with his left hand ... he's also very sloppy with his hook. He doesn't throw any uppercuts which would be a great weapon for him. I also think that he should work on throwing body punches because he just aims for the head a ton. And his head movement is non existant when it comes to it ... he relys on his chin a bit too much and needs to tuck that **** and move those shoulders.

His power will get him through jr. lightweight and maybe lightweight, but if he moves up any more he would have to learn how to use his boxing skills. He has the tools but just neglects to use them.

valero is not like pac..i don't know where you heard that but it is imo an insult to pac:yep saying he is like pac would simply means the same as he could fare well with guys like morales, jmm, and mab..

Soto is more skilled, also has great power. And is a tough guy, decent chin don't expect him to get KOed.

    Soto by TKO mid/late rounds

Soto should be favored but soto seems to have that mexican warrior mentality and seems to challenge people to trade with him. If Valeros power is the real deal he might just put soto to sleep. either way this would be a great fight and i doubt that it'll go the distance.
