Valero is nothing special but Casamayor is old and shot, I expect Valero to shine in this one.

Cas is on the slide...he'll present a few problems for Ed due to his craft but his age has caught up to him. he won't be active enough or sharp enough to hold Ed off. I think Cas will be elusive and savvy enough to avoid Ed power though. I don't think he'll win by KO. But probably a decision.

im gonna take the wiley veteran on points. if casa can last the first few with valero, i think he'll be able to adapt and use his advantage in technical skills/tricks of the trade to beat him and earn a sloppy decision.

Casa is so cooked at this point with age, injuries and just all around ineffectiveness that chances are this is all Valero.

I think some of you guys are overrating Valero hugely. And Casa did good for the most part against Marquez. Valero ain't no Marquez, and Casa is going to counter-punch Edwin into oblivion, IMO.

JMM is also on the slide. He struggled against Juan diaz who is a very good fighter, but JMM in his prime would have smoked a fighter like Juan, not struggle 8 grueling rounds with a limited fighter like Juan. If Casa does win it won't be by decision, he'll end up catching Ed like he caught Kasidis after loosing most of the rounds if not all of them. Power is the last thing to go!

I thought about that...but at the end of the day, JMM KO'd him. Not only that but the last 3 or 4 performances from Casa have been very telling about his status in the boxing world.

He struggled to beat Katsidis and lord knows we all remember at the Santa Cruz debacle. He even looked a little ragged against Corrales in their 3rd fight.

Oh yeah, I agree there are big question marks over the current state of Casa, he's definetley on the slide, but not quite at the bottom, IMO. There is a distinct possibility that Valero could work his magic and overhwhelm Casa with an early KO.

But I don't think thats going to happen, because Casa is, and will be, the epitome of the 'experienced pro' for the first few rounds. I see an early onslaught, then Casa works his way into the fight and grinds an increasingly frustrated and ineffective Valero down, en-route to a late stoppage or close but clear UD for Joel.

Valero will not sit back and act like Pav did against Hop. Casa is done, has been done, and will soon be finished if this fight is made.

Interesting perspective. I don't agree. I think JMM is as good as he's ever been.

Valero by brutal KO within 4 rounds.

There's really no one good left for Valero to fight at 135 since JMM went after Mayweather and Pac moved up to 140. I hope Mayweather leaves JMM out in the cold then maybe Valero can force a fight against JMM.

Katsidis is looking for a rematch against Diaz and would make for easy target practice at any rate. Juan Diaz is running from Valero and GBP wants a soft touch for him in his next fight. Guzman is permanently MIA and can't make weight to save his life. Khan was run out of the division and is cherrypicking a belt at 140. No one with any name value seems to want a piece of Valero.

He's experienced as he has ever been but he is clearly not as good s he once was. His fight with an aging Casa and a very good Juan Diaz supports my perspective. Casa in is present state and Juan at his best would never have been competitive against a Prime or at his very best JMM.
