agree ... Marquez would test canvas at least three times per each round

Its a shame how many people are saying a legend like JMM would lose to a person who's biggest name is DeMarco

How can you compare Chris John, Juan Diaz, and old Casamayor and MAB to Valero, Idc how old he was MAB was a legend who was still way better than Valero

Yeah, that's me - strictly an HBO-watching casual fan. :conf

Pacquiao hit harder at 130 than Valero did. Film of both makes that plain. Pacquiao also fought much better opposition at 130. In fact, just about everyone Pacquiao fought during his super feather campaign was better than Shimada - and that was Valero's best defense at SFW (and maybe his best win there, alongside Mosquera...who was always longer on heart than talent...)

What about Pitalua? :blabla Why even bring him up? He fought Valero at lightweight, first of all. Weren't we discussing super feather? :think

Besides, Pitalua is far from Valero's best win. Ignore his padded record. He's an old man who hits hard (and can therefore KO a bunch of tomato cans) but really isn't a very good boxer at all. Someone half his age who hits as hard and has a lot more energy taking it to him and blowing him out in a quick mini war isn't all that much to be proud of or excited about.

As for "DeMarco's first KO loss" - Valero didn't score a knockout of DeMarco. He made Tony quit, and it was as much to do with speed as power. Actually more to do with speed, I'd say. I didn't say DeMarco is unproven, either. He has proven himself to be pretty mediocre at world titlist level. That's what I said. Not a stellar win. Just a decent one.

Valero didn't have a stellar career. Just a decent one. :good

As for 27 wins and 27 by KO - there you go putting stock in silly things again. Is Vitali Klitschko the hardest hitting heavyweight of all time? No. He has the highest stoppage rate of any heavyweight champ of all time. BIG difference. Try to figure it out.

As for JMM "ducking" Valero... :rofl

Ok he was robbed against John ..But he didn't destroy him either .From a skill set I would have put Edwin in between John and Barrera ..There is no way JMM destroys him as some suggest !

    1) As a big JMM fan, Marquez vs. John wasn't a robbery - it was a close fight that went the way of the hometown guy (due in no small part to the points deducted for fouls)

    2) In terms of skill set, Valero was clearly a few levels BELOW both John and Barrera. More explosive power than both in the feather weight range? Sure. Boxing skills? Not even close to either.

JMM would have systematically dissected and destroyed Valero over time. It would have been less Wlad-Austin and more Wlad-Peter II.

valero fights the SAME way every time.......................

it will take Marquez about 2 rounds MAX to figure him out and counterpunch the **** out of him......

Marquez via wide UD or possibly a late stoppage for Marquez

    :deal

    :thumbsup

A lot of people seem to grasp this...but for every person that gets it, there is another who is just blinded by their hopes for what Valero could have been. :-(
