If Valero was still alive today how do you think he would have done against the 2 Argentine power punchers? We all know he would have killed Broner but I would have loved to see a fight against these 2 sluggers. Would have been such a great fight.

    Edwin Valero Top 100 ATG
No Blueprint + 100% KO ratio + 2 Division Champion + Never ducked anybody

    Beats any active boxer today...

    He gets crunched by either.

He gets way too much shine for someone whose best real accomplishment was spanking Tony freaking DeMarco. (who is decent, but let's face it, was never elite and was a bit of a weak titleholder...) Another gym legend like Spadafora - and, incidentally, another piece of **** like Spadafora...

Sorry I.B. Spaddy was a slickster POS (like many humans)...that showed he can't overwhelm adversary...but was a great boxer nevertheless...Mayweather immortalized him by ducking him...a sign of a great boxer

Valero showed Valor, power and heart...he also had a traumatic life, he left it all in the ring...If you can't accept him as a primate...That's up to you & it's your opinion

Edwin Valero is a top 100 ATG in my book & I have the footage to back it up :deal

Valero fought one world-class opponent, who at his very best was a B-grade contender (but happened to be lucky enough to hold a belt for a short time) and who only seemed like a big deal on Valero's resume back then because he recently had bolstered his own resume when he luckily caught the shot 32-year-old Kid Diamond on his way out the door.

It was a great performance, no doubt - but it showed that Valero's power had diminished a bit with the move up in weight. He wasn't going to be knocking out any top lightweights...forget about iron chinned light welters (now welters) as is being discussed here with Matthysse & Maidana. As for his 'world class skill' - well, he managed to outbox DeMarco. Not exactly a magical feat. Jorge Linares did so, easily, and even more clearly than Valero did, through nine rounds before he got tired and lazy and paid the price.

Decent power, but no more. (especially moving up in weight, and honestly we have very little to go on regarding his super feather power as the only decent opponent he faced at the weight - or indeed, before DeMarco - was Mosquera...and while knocking him down a couple of times in a war and eventually putting him away is pretty impressive, that is all Valero ever did at 130 and the only respectable achievement he ever had until putting a speed clinic on DeMarco...)

    Decent skill, but no more.

    Never got his chin tested.

Never got pushed hard having his heart tested against top fighters (the closest he ever came being the Mosquera brawl)

He was a fast aggressive guy who seemed to have excellent stamina. That is all we can say for sure about him based on the extant body of evidence. No more, no less. No ATG no matter how you slice it. DeMarco & Mosquera (while both are respectable, honest pros, both worthy fringe title challengers in any era but probably never holding a belt in most) cannot be the best 2 names on the record of a true All Time Great.

    Got my vote.
He would turn most of todays top 10 lightweights and welters into DOGMEAT.
    He would give Pac braindamage.

For all his ferocity, I don't think Valero was big enough to bang with either guy for the long haul. Still I give him a shot due to him being a bit of a wildcard and still having an element of his ceiling being unknown. Certainly wouldn't favor him though.

Remember how Pacman brought more power moving up, Valero also thrusted his body with the punches in a similar manner to Pacman

I have a hard time imagining Mayweather or JMM withstanding his assault...My theory, we will not know for sure

27-0 (KO 27) a top 100 ATG in my book

We are all entitled to our ATG lists, I see where you are coming...which is the traditional ATG classification, Valero is my exception

That's like saying Gatti 2004 stops Pacman just cause he was too small in 135

The answer is 27-0 (KO 27) NO BLUEPRINT
Get over it, he died as an invincible 2 Division World Champion

Not sure IF Edwin would have carried well up to 140lbs...
But anything below 140lbs, Valero beats the **** outta the Arg's. :deal
    (They would be zombies @135)
