We didn't really see Valero in with any great competition. It's hard to subject him to fantasy match-ups.
If someone can prove Valero is competent on the inside I'd pick him, but from what I've seen he isn't, therefore I think Mancini bosses him.
It'd be a war. Mancini is more proven, but Valero showed great power and ever-evolving skill. It seemed to me he was going to have a good career. If forced to bet, I'd go with Mancini for doing more, but Valero was a badass, if a crazy murderer.
Valero just seemed to overwhelm hapless opposition with berserker aggression and barrages of punches. He never proved himself to be someone with top notch single shot power, and didn't look to possess it to me. Not sure what he'd have amounted to. I'd bet a good amount on Mancini.
Thing with Valero is, who did he actually beat? Against say Pitalua, he landed one nice shot and then displayed some of the sloppiest finishing ever seen. He was good laying out hapless Japs, but against someone vaguely durable (DeMarco) the opponent wasn't going anywhere. Still, in that fight Valero displayed he had fast hands and a slashing power. Not enough to get much done against Mancini IMO, not at 135 where Mancini was a very good fighter. And at 130lbs Valero was Godawful, Mosquera sat him on his arse and Valero looked slower than Bazooka Limon.
Limon would bust Valero up. Beat him at his own game of ******-swinging madness. The body attack would be key.
Mancini was a very good fighter who's career basically went downhill after the Duk Ku Kim disaster. He was on his way up the charts until then. He was better than Valero and would beat Edwin down Valero couldn't bully the bull-strong Mancini.
