Oh I would not put Escobedo in with Edwin for quite some time. Vicente did himself well last fight showing good toughness while being able to box in and outside but he needs more fights. I heard Escobedo might fight Katsidis next. Vicente will beat him down.
It's true Escobedo wasn't too impressive but he was up against a desperate old Hernandez who was fighting for his career. Fighters like that can always be dangerous.. I think he's made decent progress under Ignacio Beristain and with him training with MArquez, i think he'll only get better.
Alot of people think nothing of VAlero and if Escobedo isn't even on his level, is he a journeyman material?
Pointleess fight. If an way shot and old Famoso Hernandez can almost beat Escobedo then Valero would surely KO him.
Not as simple as that, FINITO. Valero's style and strengths will mean if he comes up against a fighter like Escobedo, rather than outclass him for 12 rounds, he'll knock him spark out inside 5 rounds. It doesn't mean he is so exceptionally good that he knocks out Vincete, it just means Escobedo just got hurt by an old man who wasn't a knockout puncher. Edwin Valero has a lot to prove, despite his bull **** 2 weight world champ status. Believe that.
Off topic.. What about your favorite fighter Barrera.. How would valero/Escobedo look against him at this point?
I would prefer not to mention the likes of Marco Antonio Barrera in the same sentence as unproven fighters like Valero and Escobedo. However, it's worthy to note, that when Marco was rising through the ranks, winning Mexican championships and eventually on his way to a world title at 122lb, he was already recognized amongst the best fighters in the world. He showed considerable more ability and variety in his work when he was coming to prominence than either Vicente or Valero have up to this point. He also had to win his world titles by beating high caliber opposition, unlike Edwin Valero.
