    Edwin Valero does not deserve to be mentioned among the all-time greats.

    Valero was a scumbag and my heart still goes out to the children and families of the tragedy.

    He survived Sandy Saddler in one of their fights and Saddler is a much bigger puncher than Valero.

    And since when does Pep have to knock Valero out to beat him?and for a guy who had nothing his punches he sure won a lot of fights but who cares about that right?whats that compared with Valero's sparring sessions.

    Im curious what Pep fights have you seen?

    here is a key success in picking winners. Valeros can decision pep bc of his high 100+ punches a round work rate. Valeros can also ko pep. Pep on the other hand can ONLY win by decision. Pep is known for defense but you can't say that he have a good offense or a inside game. Which leaves him to only win on the outside. Edwin can brawl and is deadly on the outside with his str8 lefts. That means pep is in danger on the outside as well as inside. Pep will have to engage if he wants to win but he doesn't have the offense to win enough rounds. He can avoid punishment but he can't trade or hit hard enough to stop valero offense. Floyd can stop shane's offense bc he can punch hard enough. Pep can't.

    These threads are getting absurd. Willie Pep is regarded as one of the top 5 pfp fighters of all time. He was something like 80-1 before he broke his back in a plane crash, which nearly ended his career and which certainly ended his prime. He would school Valero painfully. Valero would be lucky to connect at all. Just a completely different league.

    pep fought majority tomatoe cans. don't believe go to boxrec. he started his career fighting cans, and ends fighting cans, in the prime of his career he fought couple good fighters. he have been koed 6times so his defense isn't that good as people make it out to be. did bhop ever get koed? how about floyd? how about james toney? a sure sign of a noob who don't know much about boxing is to follow hype. And thats exactly some of you are. I know i can pick winners and i have done time and time again.

    This discussion is ******ed im not going to waste my time with a guy that picks Valero to beat Pep based on some stupid idea you have that Pep cant deal with pressure fighters,its obvious you never saw the guy fight.

    hell i even win bets on fights where i never seen the fighters and just study the stats and i would pick the winner. stats tells you how a fighter do against some1 they are suppose to beat and someone who suppose to give them a hard time.

    that is correct but pep is no mayweather. Pep's whole game is to survive and doesn't have the punch or the countering ability to keep someone like valero in check. simple as that. it would be tyson vs spinks if edwin vs pep.

    The ****? Pep has 65 career KOs :lol:, that's more KO wins than pro matches Valero fought... You don't think Pep can throw fast punches for extended periods? His handspeed is some of the best of all time, bro. Valero can throw as many punches as he wants but it's irrelevant when you're talking about the best defensive boxer of all time. Edwin didn't have the actual boxing skills to deal with someone like Pep, who has the accumulated experience and skill from 200+ fights.
