I remember as a boxing fan looking up this fighter I'd been hearing about from gym stories. After seeing a few fights on youtube was very impressed. Seen the guy fight many times after was very impressive. Had something I'd not seen in the sport in quite sometime. That X factor seemed to be molded straight from the early 1980s. Had the chin, power, killer instinct and conditioning. Was looking forward to the many great fights to come with the likes of Pacman, Mayweather, heck even Loma could have been possible etc... Then he took his life along with his spouse. Sad Day for sure! I believe he would have been quite a talent and very hard to beat! What a waste!!
I watched him come up and thought he's gonna be in some big time wars! Unfortunately it was with himself. I think he'd have battered the pre juice Manny. But, it's only a belief
Don't keep this guy's name alive in the boxing community, a true POS who deserves nothing other than to be forgotten.
Had he not killed himself I honestly don't think he would have gotten passed the big boys such as JMM, Mayweather, Pac, etc. Other than power and some underrated boxing ability I don't think he was all that special, he would have lost at some point. Ike Ibeabuchi was an even bigger waste.
Nahh I'd say that Valero was fortunate to not have met with a prime Pac. Pac would have easily brutalize him. Different levels of class.
People that die young often end up being overrated. Not just boxing but in all walks of life, such as music (Kurt Cobain), acting (James Dean), etc.
Probably not Sanchez. I don’t really know enough about Heath Ledger to answer. Overrated might not be the right word. I just mean that they are revered more by the public when they die young. It’s because you always will remember them from when they were in their prime. For example, if Broner had died before the Maidana fight, people would be talking about how he’d have been one of the best ever if he had lived.
Double sided coin for me The fighter I thinks great As a human being he was seriously twisted Coming from poverty and a brian injury fhooked Edwin up massively
He really didn't He pasted demarco from the minute he got his head cut open in the second I was excited to see how his career would have panned out who doesn't like fast hard hitters with a mean streak . I remember being really eager for him to fighter marquez which I feel would have been a classic and Edwin would have been found wanting at the very elite level
For sure, the guy who beat his wife repeatedly over the course of who knows how long. Shows up to hospital while she is recovering from injuries he caused, and berates the hospital crews. Then stabs her to death at a later date, which must be one of the most terrifying ways to die. And you defend him by taking a 2nd grade shot at me? You must be a fun guy. Floyd apologist I am guessing?
Heath Ledger was brilliant as the Joker and was decent in Brokeback Mountain, but nothing else in his body of work suggested that he would be an upper echelon actor (like Joaquin Phoenix, DDL, or Phillip Seymour Hoffman—RIP).
