Efe Ajagba vs. Charles Martin set for February 15

If Martin has anything left, there's plenty of incentive for him to show it here.

Hopefully a fairly well matched fight. Zuffa have got it right that way, so far.

Should be fun while it lasts, at the very least.

 

Martin is being put out to pasture here. His last chance. Ajagba breaks him down and stops him in the middle rounds.

 

The only way Martin wins (in my opinion) is a well set up punch that Ajagba can’t recover from. Otherwise, Ajagba will outbox and dominate Martin, maybe even getting a stoppage.

With all that said, it seems either Ajagba or his matchmakers are terrified to put him in with a proven top contender. I don’t care how many gatekeepers/journeymen he fights. I get the picture. Put him in with a proven world class fighter.

 

I feel kind of the opposite, they seemed hell bent on making him an opponent.

Top rank tossed him in against Sanchez in an unusual move, not something they would of done with Jared Anderson or Torrez.

Then they put him in against 18-0 Stephan Shaw who Top Rank had high hopes for and he beat Shaw.

Then they throw him in against 19-0 18 KOs Zhan Kossobutskiy on a nothing undercard fight which he wins again.

Then against power punching Joseph Goodall, then Vianello, and finally with Martin Bakole.

I always thought it was bizarre for Top Rank who very carefully match their guys generally speaking. It's almost like they were pissed at him.

I feel like it's not them protecting Ajagba but rather them just hoping he will lose to someone.

Was surprised to learn Martin is still alive.

 

I remember that fight, and that card. It was New Years Day. And it was literally heavyweights all the way through. Not sure if you remember the Vykhryst vs Kiladze fight, it was the first televised fight on the card and it stuck in my mind as one of the most exciting heavyweight fights I've seen, until the stupid referee decided to ruin it for everyone. Anybody who's reading this, go check it out, you won't be disappointed, while it lasts.

 

Of course he's alive. He walks this earth like a god, remember? Gods cannot die.

 

Charles Martin is packing glass in his chin. Ajagbe will shatter that fragile mandible.

On the undercard of Ajagba-Martin, Umar Dzambekov (13-0) vs Ahmed Elbiali (24-1) is a very good light heavyweight fight. Both are hard punchers.

Dariial Kuchmenov (9-0, age 23) is a talented up-and-coming lightweight fighting on the card.

 

The fighters who appeared on Zuffa 1 and likely Zuffa 2 also, are all 'signed' to Zuffa - according to White.

Have to wonder the nature of Martin's legal connection to Zuffa. Is he signed for just the one fight? Is he signed for multiple fights? Does he have to win to progress the relationship?

 

I care about it! I can't wait to see Charles Martin's glass jaw shattered again.

He has a magical way of getting KOd. Martin's so chinny he gets starched while still standing!!

 

I understand where you are coming from ... but on the other hand ... genuine match-ups and giving opportunities to make a statement against name opposition is a good thing from a fan's perspective. He's rated as a top HW because of it.

BTW ... what the F happened to Zhan Kossobutskiy? He just outright vanished.

[edit] answer my own question. Possible sparring partner money like Dychko ... he's 37. He's done probably.
