Yep that's the benefit good matchmaking can have on a boxer. Too many heavyweight prospects just padding their records vs journeymen and totally unprepared when they make that step up.

I have to give Ajagba credit, I never rated him, just saw him as a big guy would could punch with zero real skills other than a OK jab and a big right hand. But since his defeats, whoever he's started training with has made clear improvement. He now frames with the lead hand to set up the big right hand, he now has much better variety to his combinations where before it was just left jab, straight right over and over again. The inclusion of that uppercut is a game changer. I wouldn't call him a real counter puncher yet but he does seem to be trying to learn to fight on the back foot and catch guys coming in rather than just marching forward all the time. Will be interesting to see if he continues to improve, his defence still needs work.

Sorry, I completely missed this post

    Thanks

I've always quite liked Ajagba, both in and out of the ring. He's definitely improved, he seems willing to fight anyone, and he's been on a nice little run since the loss to Sanchez. The Cuban is a good fighter but he's boring and his whiskers are definitely suspect. Much lesser punchers than Ajagba have hurt him pretty badly so maybe that loss was more an experience thing. Even though he's a lot more accomplished, I actually consider The Dosser as a poor man's Ajagba lol

Surely nobody wants anyone to get seriously hurt in boxing, but referees are slowly killing whatever interest may be left in the sport with all these bull**** stoppages

Weekes used to be a good ref . Not any more it seems. I think the officials are under high pressure to favor the home boy fighter or otherwise they may, or will , get overlooked for the prime assignments. What Weekes allowed Ward to do to Kov's testes was nothing short of criminal

But my friend, an early stoppage must be preferred to some of the tragedies that have happened when fights have been allowed to go on too long. I didn't see the Ajagba fight if that was a stoppage but it seems he's improving. Oh how I wish my old friend the late great Curtis Cokes was still with us, he'd bring out the best in Efe

Ajagbas the only guy fighting consistently in competitive fights with other prospects. That's what really sets him apart. He's earned a step up. Someone like Parker or maybe Joyce who will be looking to rebound next year after his career alternating losses to Zhang would be fights for him.

Will Jared the Big Duck Anderson finally man up and take on Efe who is putting back in line the men Anderson should as the Ring #7 heavyweight?

Efe is in such a stark contrast to Sanchez who seems to be killing his instinct and style with Reynoso, beating absolute cans.

I don't know why people consider Sanchez boring. He tends to get into a lot of exchanges that he doesn't need to be in. He could win most fights easily by pot shotting but he continues to get into risky situations with 50/50 exchanges. He was almost knocked out in his last fight when he decides to take a page out of Bradley/Provodnikov and slug it out.

He's been pretty boring in some of the fights of his I've seen. Granted I don't think I've seen too many but I recall losing interest and finding him too low output in some of them

He's definitely been afflicted with below average punch resistance too which is never acceptable and must be strongly condemned by every fan worldwide
