Let me ask you this, let's say a boxer slips accidentally and breaks his ankles during a fight. Should the fight go to cards too?

 

I would be inclined to agree... But the ref also never declared the cut to be from a headbutt until a round after it had opened. It was just a total comedy of errors.

 

I don't hate this take but being the fight was in a sovereign nation I feel like they don't NEED to make it a no decision. It could come down to wording in the contract and all that. I'm ok with a ND, at least more ok than a Vinello win.

And why he would declare it a cut caused by a headbutt was even more foolish.

 

I don't know what to say. If you really watch boxing wishing that was a rule then that is just really odd. If I am the loser of this argument, then so be it. Cheers.

 

Especially considering that Rice had been in with better opposition and Guido was the one stepping up, taking out the amateur experience.

 

Shaw looks at least 10 years older than he is, must have had a hard life I guess.

 

In general, I think Esteves is a competent referee but he totally screwed this one up.

 

Yeah them doing a replay despite that rule stinks to high heaven, and while I think a no replay rule is a dumb one, I do think deciding what to and what not to follow on the fly is a slippery slope. But I think it's equally ****ed that the ref didn't call it a headbutt until it came time to stop the fight. I feel like this becoming an NC is 100% approproate given the circumstances. At the very least Rice oughta give Vianello a rematch, much as we may not wanna see one.
