Co-headlining (with Jared Anderson vs. Andrii Rudenko) at the Hard Rock in Tulsa on August twenty-sixth, live on ESPN+. Both halves of the heavyweight doubleheader are scheduled for ten rounds but with major contention implications at stake.

Whole lotta firepower in this. Ajagba is 17-1 with thirteen kayos and Kossobutskiy is 19-0 with eighteen.

Both fought decent amateur opposition, with Kossobutskiy faring slightly better. In the pros Ajagba has faced a higher caliber but also lost once and looked pedestrian more often. The hulking Nigerian has three inches' height advantage over the Kazakh southpaw.

Ajagba has one nickname too many. Kossobutskiy's one absolutely sucks.

Zhan should win easily, though I respect Ajagba for taking him on. Top Rank has amassased a decent outfit of heavyweights, its too bad that the chances of any of them getting a shot at the top four are pretty slim (Joshua is still a "34 year old work in progress" Wilder is basically semi retired and 38ish now, Fury is fighting Ngannu and probably "retiring" after again, Usyk is stuck fufilling a mandatory because apparently only Usyk has to fulfill those out of the big four)

I'm putting 1,000 dollars on Kossobutskiy at +110. You all should do the same. He'll win easily.

Kossobutskiy could knock out Ajagba, in any case this could be a very good fight.

Zhan beats Ajagba. His southpaw stance and tendency to block the lead hand will take away Ajagba's jab, he'll then step around and land his shots inside. Ajagba simply doesn't have the foot work or in the inside skills to keep him off him.

Ajagba of course has a punchers chance, Zhan does have a tendency to lean back and Ajagba does have the reach and the right hand to take advantage of that, so an upset wouldn't be a shock but in the end Zhan's simply the more complete fighter.

But having said that I don't rate Zhan that highly. He's better than Ajagba or a Kownacki but I think he lacks the size and doesn't have the footwork to make up for that to succeed at the top level.

    Buddy debuted in 2017.

Six years, and nobody in his team, or in the Kazakh/Russian/American media has come up with something better than "Heavyweight GGG". It puts me in dry heaves, it's so awful.

I guess there is precedent for name-checking another fighter in your moniker, ie "Little Tyson" etc, but. Idk, this just feels super cringe. Maybe because Golovkin never really achieved mainstream fame proportionate to his talent so it feels a bit disingenuous to put him on that instant recognition branding level of a Tyson (outside boxing diehards). Or maybe it's that Kossobutskiy and Golovkin really just aren't all that similar stylistically, aside from both being good body punchers. When you watch ZK, it's hardly like looking at a "bigger southpaw version of Triple G", to my eyes. If they weren't the same nationality nobody would have associated them like that.

Not really sure what to expect from this. Nice step up for both.

I can see every result happening in this fight, just dont expect an early stoppage.

Zhan' s career seems stuck, Ajagba may have improved.

Nice fight, fair play to both men taking it. I think Zhans pressure gets to Aiagba to force a late stoppage

Gotta put some coin on Zhan. Cheering for Ajagba, but I don't think it's his night.
