Would you trade 45 kcal of nutritious food like an egg yolk for 45 kcal of rather empty sugar chains like pasta? I would not, making weight or not.
for a competitve body builder who is going for a really low skin fold, i think it would all count and thats the reason why they take the yolk out of the egg because there not worried about nutritional intake there worried about how they look and thats what body building is about, ''appearance''. They dont need to perform like a boxer, they need to look good. The reason i take the yolks out is because i get proper nutrition and vitamins in other meals and for breakfast what i want is a protein meal, so i take the yolk out.
and thats 45 kcal of SATURATED FAT per egg there is other ways to intake good nutrition whilst avoiding saturated fat
No it's not, only about a third of it is saturated according to NutritionData (it appears I was wrong when I said half). Salmon contains about one fourth of saturated fats according to the same source. A better source of nutrients than an egg is hard to find. A whopping 15 kcal of saturated fats per egg, and not even empty fats either as they contain fat soluble vitamins. Your comparing it to performance. BB is aesthetics only. Im not doubting its nutritional value but you wont see BB's on pasta either when making weight. Most people think Pasta is some safe carb haven. To be frank its a quite ordinary source of carbs. Remember a BB needs to come in as tight as possible that means cutting out carbs and of course fats.
Fair enough and good point, but wouldn't proper nutrition allow them to work out harder, thereby giving them an edge in appearance? The yolk still contains about half of the eggs protein
Yes and no. If your Ronnie Coleman yes. If your Art Atwood no. Too many factors involved like symmetry genetics etc. Some guys will eat and eat in the off and hit their worst body part only to see minimal results.
They completely cut carbs and fats when making weights? They will just metabolize all the protein they eat instead, that does not make sense. You can be on a 1000 kcal a day diet and still have the same carbs/fats/protein ratio as on a 5000+ kcal a day diet. You simply need those 1000 kcals to be as nutrient rich as possible, and eggs fit that scheme perfectly. I agree on pasta being very a ordinary source of carbs. Most people think complex carbs are better for some reason, not realizing they break down to simple sugars before being put to use. It's what accompanies the carbs that matters, nutritional value is what you should be after.
Also a good point about working out harder, but i think most body builder wouls use supplements or enhansments to give them the edge to train harder....
Not really. BB is about building mass along with aesthetics. Depending on your genetics wholesome healthy diets and hard work will only take you so far.
Dude there loosing weight. There not exactly catabolic but trust me if there making weight they wont be eating eggs. Its not about the nutritional value at that stage. Its purely about the look hardness and thickness of the muscles.
