Will Arum ruin him with soft opponents and inactivity like he did to Korobov?

**** out with the anti-American stuff, would you?

As for Egor, I like the kid. Hits hard, good handspeed, offensive mentality. We'll see about his chin and his willingness to endure when the going gets rough.

He's certainly promising. Hope to see him fight soon.

Agreed De La Cruz is just a pure amatuer boxing, very quick ,great at finding his range and pot shots with the jab and occisional straight. As a pro he would either just be flat out useless or an unmarketable world champion, he would make Rigondeaux look as exciting as Mike Tyson compared to him

    Nah. At least hope not.

Since GGG and Kovalev suddenly there's some notice being taken of the EE ex-ams.

LHWs suddenly a burning hot division, Main Events scored first with Kovalev then GYM got a coup with Beterbiev, I think the Mekhontsev signing was Arums way of trying to get a part of the 175 action.

That means tho that he'll have to move Mekhontsev along pretty fast if he wants to be a part of the LHW mix in the next coupla years (GYMs shifting Beterbiev well, I ain't heard yet, but I'm expecting him on the Nov 30 under).

As for Koborov, there's some hints he might be finally moving a little (I think part of the reason he was left on the sidelines was that JCC Jr was Arums MW 'star') - ugh goddamn, just looked on boxrec..

Derek Edwards (yeah, who?) on 7/12. And I thought Brewer was a step down from Ossie Duran. Dear god. The only thing I can hope is that Arum's looking for him to get a highlight reel KO.

I dont think Mekhontsev will be as good as Beterbiev or Kovalev

Funny thing, but I get the same feeling. Not from watching his fights (where he's just as deadly as either in the ams), but just.. IDK.. summin' about him says to me - I ain't quite sure he's got that killer instinct for an aggressive style pro fighter, though I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong.

I think so because i saw him fight Joe Ward before the the olympics and was beaten quiet easily, before the fight i taught Mekhontsev was going to be a monster considering he was a 2 time european champion and world champion at a higher weight division and was 27/28 years old but he was easily beaten by an 18 year old kid. In the last round he took a bit of a battering aswell. And altough he won the olympics he wasnt overly impressive so my opinion on him hasnt changed, i will say he does look very sturdy and is going to be huge for the weight though. Beterbiev was a lot more deadly in the am's though il disagree with you on that, his punching power even with headgear on was supposed to be terrifying, his opponents used to be shitting themselves
