I would like to read the quote you are referring to. In the meantime I will find the court statement that I read
Oh and on the ropes radio just deleted this post so so I guess I post it here to not waste time. If team Oscar/Floyd slandered me about using steroids and all the pundits actually bit at it, I would be so angry that I'd sue and I would definitely act very serious about it, especially if a potential court date was brewing. However, if I was already sentenced and convicted by the masses and by a by a corrupt judge paid off by GBP lawyers, I'd "act" as if it didnt bother me but I wouldnt be a henpecked pussycat. In fact, I'd do a lot more than just joke about it
maracho, before Margarito got the chance to hold and feel the pad for himself, he was insistent that there was nothing to them and that Richardson was just making a stink about nothing. I speak both spanish and english, and this is what Margarito was saying to the spanish media all throughout....... ....but when at the hearing when Margarito got to feel the knucklepad for the first time for himself, he did concede that touching and feeling them, they did feel out of whats normal to him and that they could very well have caused Mosley harm. Margarito's insistence to the spanish medai that nothing was wrong with the knucklepads and then his reaction to after he actually got to hold them, is what leads me to believe that Margarito was clueless as to the illegality of the knucklepads. That if Capetillo purposely was loading the wraps, Margarito was'nt in the know.
Now I did find the following quote here http://boxing.fanhouse.com/2010/08/18/attorney-antonio-margarito-sparred-illegally-while-suspended/ "anything that is in the wraps that is illegal would be cheating and an unfair advantage. I did not know [about the illegal wrappings]. I'm not arguing with you. I'm being completely honest with all of you. That's why I broke my relationship with Capetillo. It was hard to do, but that's what had to be done." I dont know where that quote took place and it doesnt reflect Margarito's observation of his wrap as does the court statement below. Divic, see bottom of page 7 section 1 of the actual hearing minutes. http://www.dca.ca.gov/csac/about_us/meetings/20100818_agenda.pdf There are several factors that the Commission should consider in making a determination about Mr. Margarito's Petition for Reinstatement, including both factors in aggravation and factors in mitigation. Factors in aggravation that can be considered in the present case include the following: 1. Prior Disciplinary Record: The California State Athletic Commission imposed discipline in the form of license revocation against Mr. Margarito on March 31, 2009 (Case. No. 2009-0210-1). Mr. Margarito was found to have violated California Code of Regulations, Title 4, section 323, because a prohibited plasterlike substance was found in his hand wraps. The Commission imposed the penalty of revocation against Mr. Margarito because such an adulteration to the hand wraps "seriously endangers the boxer's opponent." (Ex. 2, p. 4) 2. Lack of Candor: This can be defined when the respondent was less than candid when testifying about the misconduct, if he tended to blame others for the misconduct, or if he tended to minimize the effects of the misconduct.! Petitioner claimed he was unaware of any illegal pads, and blamed his trainer for inserting the illegal pads. (Ex. 2, pp. 3-4.) This content is protected
another thing people don't understand is that even if Margo was paying attention, he probably wouldn't have noticed. The trainer pulls out the already-prepared knucklepads from his gym bag and at that point, the insert is already hidden within the knucklepads. Another thing people forget is that certain commissions supply the gauze for the knucklepads in the dressing room, so Capetillo would not be able to prepare the knucklepads in advance.
All I can tell you is what I've read in the past and what Margarito has said........ I will say that this you came out with is the commisions account of it, which is'nt alway translated or in many instances put together to suit themselves. For example, Margarito on many occasion in the last hearing with the commision testified how sorry he was that this happened, and that he would be more alert to what goes in his hands when its being wrapped. .....the commision took what Margarito said here that he was unremorseful. The lone commsion member who had any experience with boxing, thought that what Margarito had said and explained was very sensible, and he even shared with the other commision members how it was that Margarito would not have known under the circumstances that were desribed took place. ......the commsion leader, ignored the commsion member who had boxing experience and still declared Margarito as unremorseful. The hearing was just ridiculous. As was explained by the ignorant lady commision member, nothing short of Margarito admitting he knew he was cheating, was good enough to even consider reinstating him.:nut In short, according to the commsion leader, Margarito needed to have admitted guilt, in which case the state would have a case to take him to trial. I just shake my head at the ineptness of the CSAC members........its as they were saying, "we think you may be telling the truth, but you have to show remorse by admitting you knew anyways."nut:nutyou just cant get anymore ******ed with the mindset of the commision members.......all except the one member who had experience and I believe had boxed before, who voted to reinstate Margarito.
