Bravo Sergey. This was a against all odds type of victory, given the issues in and outside the ring.

That’s because he couldn’t. Sergey was on point and had that jab in his ****ing face. Kinda hard to just “Let his hands go”

And Alvarez did let his hands go many times in that fight. He just couldn’t get an in shape and motivated Kovalev out of there. Get over it. DEAL WITH IT.

Kovalev kept it at range, used subtle foot movement by taking little steps at the right time, kept pumping that jab out, whacked Alvarez on his arms and shoulders, was much more defensively responsible than he was in the first fight, and maintained a high work rate throughout. He also targeted Alvarez's gut with that jab of his from the get-go and obviously Kovalev's jab packs oomph. Also often whenever Alvarez did get brave Kovalev fired right back and Alvarez was open to getting caught clean with counters when he did come out of his shell and let his hands go.

Are you really going to play the IDKSAB angle here? If that were Floyd Mayweather Jr in there, you be praising his brilliant job of neutralizing his opponents offense with his sharp jab and exemplary footwork. And that is exactly what happened Saturday yet you're not acknowledging it here, why is that? Give credit where credit is due for a change.

No I wouldn't. I'd be pointing out the shitty effort of the opponent like I'm doing here.
I gave Kovalev credit for being better prepared and getting over the hump. Lets not act as if Kovalev wasn't also out hustling and out boxing Alvarez up to the KO in the first fight. He did on Saturday what should have happened the first fight.

How can you put forth a better effort, when your opponent won't let you? On the second point Im not going to disagree.

You act like you could have done better with that stiff ****ing jab hitting your face every few seconds. We often blame fighters for not letting their hands go, but ignore the fact that there is something keeping them from letting loose. Its easy as **** to say let your hands go...

Have you had a chance to give this a second viewing, @CST80 ?

I'm really baffled that you (and many people on Twitter) saw this a clean sweep. I'm probably a longer-running OG fan of the Krusher than any of you (I knew who Kovalev was already when he fought Simakov and watched that horrible episode unfold before my eyes) but even I can't see declaring with confidence that not a round could be found here for Storm. I mean, can I see giving Kovalev all four of the rounds I gave Álvarez? (the first 3 in a row, and the 7th) Sure, they were all competitive enough, both men did some decent work. I'm just lost as to how so many people like yourself and Michael Montero are incredulous as to how anybody could tip any of those rounds to Álvarez.

I wonder if some of that isn't rooting bias, combined with surprise at Kovalev not being the broken shell and getting blown out easily that some more cynical fans were predicting?
