    http://news.boxrec.com/news/2010/wanted-someone-beat-el-maachi-reward-£15k?

Goodwin Promotions, the promotional outfit that is controversially keeping Graham Earl in the boxing ring, have signed Yassine El Maachi. Goodwin is also offering £15,000 to anyone that can beat El Maachi. It's a novel idea of trying to get El Maachi some decent opponents, although we will have to wait and see if it works.

At least El Maachi is guaranteed fights now (other than Earl, he is the biggest name on Goodwin Promotions books), but unless he gets into title contention and fights on a rival promoters bill, it looks unlikely we will see him on TV for a while.

    Thoughts?

I think bad move in the sense he won't be on tv. He could of got a good fan base going. He bangs and no one wants to fight him and he seems funny guy. They seem a up and coming promotional outfit although i'm not happy about the Earl situation but we've seen other promotions do the same. If he's signed a short term contract then it's ok.

I think he's stuck until he's elligible to fight for the British title.
He had a goodish thing going for a small while, fighting on Hennessy undercards but now that ITV have ceased to broadcast boxing I don't imagine he was really ever going to realistically sign with a promoter who could get him coverage on the telly.
The only way I could ever see Sky broadcasting one of his fights if he was the away fighter against a prospect.

it will get him fights which is the important thing, i dont think 15k is enough to tempt anyone decent tho

He really should be in retirement. Punchy...shot fighter who has nothing to bring to table other then being a punchbag and i think i can say for most we fear for his well being if he continues.

yeah they keep advertising it. Not nice thing to say but hope he loses without taking to much punishment and sees sense. If not the Boxing Board of Control need to take his license away...problem in saying that is i have feeling Earl would go down unlicensed route...i really hope not.

Welterweight is stacked domestically though and I can see a few people being tempted by a potential £15k. Light-middle has some decent operators as well.

Michael Lomax would be a decent opponent for him now IMO.

What El Maachi really needs is a promter who will keep him away from live opponents.

I would loved have seen him on TV building up a fanbase though, so I could have bet thousands of pounds against him when he would have gone into a fight completely outmatched as the favourite.

Maybe he's gonna get them to spam Anthony Small so much that he's gonna eventually agree to fight him as long as they agree to stop with the bullsh*t messages lol

Anyone else going to the Earl fight in MK ?

I'm down here that week and thinking of going. I'm not happy seeing Earl in the ring again however if it's money he needs and thats his sole reason for fighting I may go along and help him sell a ticket :huh
