After the Gomez fight Cotto will be moving his training site to Florida and will no longer have Evangelista at his corner. Cotto will be trained by a very experienced well known American trainer. Miguel and Evangelista both have strong personalities and have had problems even before the Quintana fight but decided to continue working with eachother.

My question is "who do you think his new trainer will be and will it improve his game"?...I believe yes. Even though I think Evangelista has done a helluva job with Miguel...It might be time to move on and expand his game.

Emmanuel Would Be A Heinous Mistake.... Better Off Training By Himself And Going To Fight Without A Corner At All... Manny Is The Absolute Worst Trainer Ever... Imh But Accurate Opinion, Lol!

very true...that would be terrible..hed try to make miguel into a jabber behind a high guard. He only knows how to train fighters one way.

Roach would be good, McGirt has been on a terrible run, stay away from him.

you think too highly of Roach. All he knows how to say is, "Come on, son, I need you to start backing this guy up. O.k., son."

thats b/c he put in the proper coaching during training camp. He does what a great trainer is supposed to do...calm, cool, and 1-2 simple instructions...thats all a fighter can remember and be effective.

Not: you gotta hit em! wham, bam, bam. bam, bam,

or: u gotta knock diz mu****a out man! do the thang with the thang on em with the thang

You are confusing in fight training advice with evolution between fights.

Perhaps Roach only says a few things to Manny during a fight, but his real work is done between fights in adding dimensions to Pac's game- which he has. Stewart on the other hand brings the same fighter to every fight. There seems to be a lack of improvement and a formula which he is applying to all of his charges.

The article says he MAY have a new trainer after the fight, but it does sound like it's likely. Have you guys forgotten about a guy named Ronnie Shields, I think he would polish Cotto's style to perfection like he did with Juan Diaz.

Not to mention the fact that Shields has personally stated that he feels like Miguel Cotto is the only fighter who has any chance of beating Floyd Mayweather. I think it would be a great match of trainer/boxer.
