Booooooooo. The rumored trainer is supposedly Buddy McGirt, which is the worst possible replacement for any fighter, especially when you're undefeated. Seems like an undefeated fighter with McGirt is certain to lose that "O" with the quickness (Tomasz Adamek, Eddie Chambers, Joel Julio, etc.). Nacho Beristain would be an ideal replacement.

A well informed man you are....Ronnie has expressed his high regard for Cotto in the past. Around a year ago I read an article where Ronnie stated and quote me on this "Cotto is Floyds worse nightmare" now I don't know how valid that is but he did stat this. Oh and yes Ronnie would polish Cotto up even better than he already is.

I think Dan Birmingham would be a good choice. Similar mentality to Cotto's style.

Shields, Goosen would be a good idea.

Steward, either mayweather, Mcgirt would all be huge mistakes. They would all try to turn Miguel into a slickster which he is not.

Cotto must Boycott Steward at all cost. Steward is very one dimensional and is most successful with guys who are typically tall and have specific set of physical gifts (where he can make them win by jab right and hold on inside). He either makes tigers out of cats and tames lions into cats. Cotto is a lion. Cotto's style reminds me so much of JCC. he needs someone who he will have chemistry with him in the ring based on his style and keep on what he already does best. I can't imagine what type of a fighter Emanuel would make Cotto.

If he will be training out of Florida, the only trainer I could think of that may be in or around that area is Buddy McGirt. I personally don't think he is that great of a trainer.

I personally think Nacho would suit Cotto well in the sense that Cotto's relentless body attack style resembles a lot of what is practiced in Mexico. Unfortunately, Nacho Beristain resides in Mexico, where he trains other mexican fighters.

Bad Idea ... it doesn't matter who he gets as a trainer -- I don't think that anyone person at this point and time in his career helps him anymore than his uncle.

I never was in favor of fighters switching trainers at such a crucial time in their careers. No one knows him like his uncle ... the same guy that trained him his whole life.

Other trainers will not be as into it with him as his uncle would ... he couldn't find a trainer in Fla, as experienced as his uncle and who would take the time out to train him like his uncle.

Shields, Beristain, Steward, Floyd Sr, Roach, and McGirt are all trainers who already have a bunch of fighters in their training stable.

How would they make time for Cotto?

If anything they'll be looking to cash in on Cotto v Mayweather.

Fields is not all that good of a trainer ... he doesn't even know how to properly train his fighter to adjust.

If he has a problem with his uncle -- how do you think he's going to respect another trainer, who isn't related to him.
