I’m a big fan of both. Which weight are you proposing?

This would be a great matchup!! Both outstanding fighters but as good as De La Hoya was I think Benitez was better--particularly defensively and as a counter puncher. I'd go with Benitez in a close UD--say 8-6-1 for a 15 rounder. He would be a bit too skilled and slick for Oscar.

Benitez. Oscar was a fairly one handed fighter and he’d struggle to find Benitez which would result in him wasting energy, getting frustrated and tired.

I'd probably take DLH at 140 and Benitez above.

I believe Oscar would be too easy for Benitez to figure out.

I might favor Oscar at 140 — he was stronger at that weight while Wilfred was basically still a boy — but at welter or above it’s The Bible of Boxing all the way for me.

At 147 and 154, Benitez is a grown (young) man and far sturdier.

    Wilfred W15 and comfortably.

    Oscar>Palomino

Oscar wins. He also has a better resume at 147.

Better resume overall yes but i don't think ODLH has any single wins as good as Benitez beating a near prime Cervantes and schooling a still good version of Duran at 154.

I could see ODLH winning a controversial decision over Benitez though being the more flashy fighter however.

If you remove the age 17 part, I can’t see why beating Whitaker is any worse than Cervantes (BOTH were close). And I thought Oscar beat Tito and Mosley in the rematch.

I don’t think Laing era Duran was any more significant than Vargas or Mosley at 154.
