With a record of 48 wins and 6 losses how do you think the legacy of Erik Morales will stand the test of time. I personally am a huge fan, found him to be rather exiting and generally came across as a cool guy.

I always remember my older cousins always harping on about him as they wanted him to smash Hamed's face in when I was just a bairn.

Sad the way his career dwindled out but at least we have the memories

Share pics, discuss his legacy and where you rank him in terms of boxings list of greats and also share your thoughts on how it might have been had him and Hamed fought.

I'd take Morales over Hamed. Morales was a very good fighter. I think he did enough to be enshrined in the hall of fame, but I wouldn't call Him one of the ten best 118-122 pound fighters ever.

Morales legacy in terms of greatness probably wont match his potential because he usually neglected his great boxing skills to go to hell & back to please us fans which is why he is no longer around.

Erik Morales says that he just wants to be remembered as a proud mexican who always fought the best & gave the best fights... well, he certainly done that & for my money was the most exciting fighter in the past 20 or so yrs if you like the perfect mixture of technique and excitement.

I wouldnt judge morales last 5 or 6 fights as he clearly was past his best by then but in his prime he was probably the most talented fighter in the world after or beside floyd mayweather jr.

I thought he got the better of Barrera in the head to heads + beat slightly better opposition aswell (unfortunately the judges get the last say & the casual boxing fan will view MAB as the better fighter.)

As for morales vs naseem... morales wins this one on pts very handilly if he fights like in the 2nd MAB fight but if he starts to trade he still wins but a little closer.
Erik is 1 of the very few in boxing history who had the chin to bang with naz & come out better but this is a bad fight for naz no matter which morales shows up.

Morales might very well have been the best ever at 122 lbs & he was no slouch either at 126 (especially vs MAB & Ayala) & 130 (vs hernandez & the 1st pacquiao fight.)

I thought he beat Diaz aswell & its the boxing world which is the real loser now that Erik has hung them up.

God bless you Erik Morales, you were a wonderfull fighter & always had a champion`s heart.

    :bbb :thumbsup

Morales legacy is seriously overrated by boxing fans and he was protected by Bob Arrum for a long time to keep him unbeaten

    122

Bungu - Top3 at the weight, probably the most proven at 122 when Morales was there
Vasquez - top5 at the weight never happened
Mkkinney - 122lb great, why fight Junior Jones who lost to MkKinney instead of Mkkinney?

    126

Hamed - hardest hitter in 126lb history without a doubt
Marquez - very skilled, both under Arrum, should have happened
    Gainer - top10
    Medina - top10
    Scott Harrison - top10

    130

Corrales - wanted the fight didnt get it
Cassamoya - same as above, Morales only moved to 130 when these 2 left
    Freitas - see above
Marquez - could have fought him at this weight, didnt

130 was very very weak when Morales moved into so there wasnt many people to avoid but young guns like Raheem (beat him at 135 but Raheem was a natural 126 & 130lber), Juarez and Soto were maybe worthy of shots

Now lets analize his wins under the spot light

Pacquiao - fantastic BUT 1 dimensional, good win

Barrera - ATG but they thought Barrera was shot coming into the fight

Zaragoza - 39yo and 3 months from his 40th birthday, can we say shot? Coming off a gift from McCullough

Junior Jones - coming off a 4 round KO loss to Mkkinney in his previous fight

    Kelley - SHOT SHOT SHOT

Chavez - Very good fighter, who tore his rotator cuff early on, very good win

    Hernandez - Decent nothing special

McCullough - coming off a loss to Hamed 1 fight earlier

Chi - good toughman with no skill

    Ayala - bantamweight
