This is a top 5 fantasy fight for me. Two of my all time favorites with extremely pleasing styles that would mesh for pure excitement.

What's your take on Eric Morales v Danny Lopez. 125. 15 rounds in Las Vegas. 21 foot ring. Richard Steele as ref.

The gut feel is that Morales survives some heavy punishment early to forge ahead with his edge in skills and varied attack a huge factor. Eventually he breaks Lopez down after some ferocious exchanges and eventually the referee saves Danny after he starts getting battered around the 10th or 11th round for the TKO.

A guy with Lopez's heavy hands can never be discounted of course but Morales was tough, brave and always fired back when he was hit due to his immense pride.

It couldn't be anything other than a classic war that's for sure.

Oh wow, this is a nice fight. It's hard, because we're so conditioned to think of Lopez as the loser in fantasy fights to anyone with really top-level skills due to his porous defense and propensity to be knocked down and show wear. I don't think it's that cut and dried really. Still, Morales is probably just a cut above and stops Little Red late.

Going with Morales by late stoppage in this one after
taking great punishment, perhaps getting put on his
butt. Lopez was a tremendous puncher at feather
weight . But defensively was ordinary.

Morales on the other hand when he decided to
fight with discipline was very skilled offensively
and defensively . Better than Lopez all around
    so late stoppage.

Gimme Lopez to score an upset.

Morales was just too hittable, and didn't have a chin like Sanchez's.

    Lopez TKO 11.

wow! I agree! I am surprised to see that it is in fact an upset. I was expecting the opposite to be honest

I loved Little Red as a kid but I have to take Morales here, probably by late stoppage. Morales is actually a bit taller and has a tiny bit of reach on Lopez. That combined with Morales boxing ability at range, toughness and great right hand would make me favour him as Danny was no great shakes as a boxer. Lopez always has the punchers chance though.

    Cheers All.

If anyones defense is overrated here its Morales'. Lopez had good defense for an come forward banger. He also had a quick, tight left hook to complement his short thudding right. Lopez can definitely hold his own against Morales in the boxing game and once they start trading the bigger puncher will prevail. Lopez by TKO in 13.

Morales tended to fade and get hit quite a lot. He never faced a puncher like Lopez and also Lopez did not stop throwing and coming.

Morales is the better fighter and more skilled so he’d be favored but it’s neck and neck.
