The fight was a mirror image of the first one. He was walking the Diva down, walking through his shots and getting closer, a stoppage reminiscent of the first one was inevitable if the doctor hadn't stepped in prematurely and ended things. The diva was saved by his MSG bias. Shame Canelo couldn't get his hands on him. We all know he's terrified of GGG's shadow so that one isn't going to happen either.

Cotto had won about 8 or 9 rounds of the first match before the knee dropping began. You never know:think
Yeah but the body language at that same turnaround point was different on the nights. I think people who saw otherwise (Marg fans) might have been seeing what they wanted to see.
Yeah I was hoping.... but I wasn't seeing quite what I wanted to see, Tony had 1 or 2 good rounds tops and even they were close.
That's where we differ Cotto was wilting Margarito was beating his chest It was de ja vous All over again. Margarito fought from round 2 with one good eye That doc knew this, he admitted such in the post fight interview. Cotto tried everything beating on that eye illegally lacing it a few times too I might add He STILL couldn't put Margarito away the ref had to save him. Cotto likes fighting guys who are not 100 % with officials help he can beat them Margarito is 10 times the fighter Cotto could ever dream of being atsch
So margs was fighting with one eye for several rounds yet you say the ref saved cotto.....? Well as far as I know if you can't see out of one eye the ref has all the right in the world to stop the fight, it happens alllllll the time. By your own admission it was a fair stoppage.
Margarito was beating his chest and yelling something to the effect that Cotto didn't want anymore and was getting ready to quit. Cotto did look good for 8 1/2 rounds, but there was a slight change in his demeanor, IMO. Margarito was right there, so he knows better than anyone if Cotto was wilting or had a worried look. Some people overlook the fact that there were a few different factors that played a role in this fight compared to the first. First, they were fighting at 154 (153 for you critics) and Cotto was exerting a lot of energy moving around the ring like a scared rabbit. He was trying to avoid major exchanges with Margarito and grabbing Margarito when he got close. These tactics lessened the damage Cotto was receiving, but again, he had to use a lot of energy. Second, the gloves they were using were 10oz gloves, not 8 oz gloves like they used in Nevada. Some of that padding could have softened the blows received by both fighters. It could be the reason that Cotto may have been a little better off compared to their first fight. However, I still believe Cotto's movement and grabbing played a significant role in reducing the amount of punishment he took. Finally, as I mentioned earlier, there seemed to be a slight momentum during the last round. Cotto was getting touched a lot more and Margarito seemed to have caught on to the fact that he saw or felt something different in Cotto. I definitely think Margarito was turning it on and I think he could have made it VERY interesting in the championship rounds.
Only one thing wrong with your observation. Margarito answered all of the doctor's questions correctly. When the doctor asked Margarito how many fingers he was holding up, Margarito answered correctly. At no time did Margarito complain that he couldn't see. In fact, he was begging the doctor to give him one more round. Doctor stopped the fight for some unknown reason, but it wasn't because Margarito couldn't see.
He stopped the fight because margaritio was in danger of incurring more permenant damage to that eye. The correct call was made. There are plenty of warriors out there who would fight until they were deaf dumb and blind but that doesn't mean the fight should continue in order to make the fighter happy
