Alvarez wins anyway, but I thought it was supposed to be Stevenson - Alvarez next? Does Stevenson get another cherry pick?
So the guy that got a blatant gift against Chilemba vs the guy that's 1-2-1 in his last 4 fights and caught on PEDs in the last... and the winner gets the pimp.
True, but even though Alvarez did get a gift against Chilemba, I'd still like to see him fight Stevenson. Chilemba is legit (esp. before the Kovalev and Gvozdyk beatings), and, as it was a close fight, Alvarez is a legit contender.
Kinda makes sense for GYM. Alvarez has absolutely no fans behind him (at least none that would pay) and he's boring to watch. If Alavarez win he MIGHT get a boost in popularity. If Bute beats him, the Stevenson vs Bute fight is bigger than Pimp vs Alvarez, would probably bring more money and fans. Stevenson will more than likely brutally KO him. Bute should just retire or maybe wait for a fight against Chavez Jr or Degale/Jack winner.
GYM's maxing out earnings by keeping everything in-house and getting as much mileage from the old horses as they can before they get sent off to the glue factory.
Only angle I can really think of. I think Stevenson kills Bute at this point, but it'd do big numbers.
Terrible fight for Bute! No way he can win this one and will get another loss. Alvarez is going to box circles around Bute. Still, I give credit to Bute. He used to be a nobody who fought nobody, like Girlovkin, but since Froch, he has been fighting at a higher level.
Good scrap.... Bute gave Degale and Jack absolute hell, and the Pascal fight was a lot closer than most let on. Alvarez on the other hand was very lucky to keep his undefeated record intact against Chilemba.
