First fight was IMO a complete one-sided beatdown. Araujo lacks power otherwise he would have stopped Clavero. Clavero on the other side was pretty weak, looked gassed after three or four rounds and is technically/skillwise one level below Araujo. Fight was stopped in the last (tenth) round due to a deep cut in Claveros forehead caused by an accidental headclash. My scorecard was: R1: 10-8 Clavero - Araujo down, without KD it would be a 10-9 Araujo round R2: 10-9 Araujo R3: 10-9 Araujo R4: 10-9 Araujo R5: 10-9 Araujo R6: 10-9 Araujo R7: 10-9 Araujo R8: 10-9 Araujo R9: 10-9 Araujo (R10: 10-9 Araujo) I would be surprised if Clavero will show up in better form and as a better boxer overall. He looked pretty weak. Only four months between those fights. I can not see any other outcome than a win for Araujo. Clavero had his moment in the first round where he knocked down Araujo but Araujo did not look hurt at all.
Official cards: Ramon Cerdan 96-96 Jorge Basile 97-93½ Hugo Vainesman 97-95½ ...weird, you'd expect the scoring to be more favorable toward an unbeaten guy in his own hometown.
I think it was a pretty one-sided affair. Can't give any credits to Clavero for the fight. He tried but he wasn't able to do any damage to Araujo if we excluding the first round. Araujo also looked like nothing special but he was landing the cleaner shots in every round and he looked much better overall (defense, footwork, upper body movement). I would be shocked IF Araujo loses this. Really. There is one class between them imo.
Javier Clavero vs Elias Araujo II Official Score: 96 1/2 - 95 Clavero 97 1/2 - 96 1/2 Clavero 97 - 95 1/2 Clavero Clavero UD My Scorecard: Round 1: 10-9 Clavero Round 2: 10-9 Clavero Round 3: 10-9 Araujo Round 4: 10-9 Araujo Round 5: 10-9 Araujo Round 6: 10-9 Araujo Round 7: 10-9 Araujo Round 8: 10-9 Araujo Round 9: 10-9 Araujo Round 10: 10-9 Araujo 98-92 Araujo What a Robbery.
Damn, I think we need to appoint someone the hometown fight monitor in the league, I usually pay a lot of attention to those details, but I put very little thought into this one since the first fight wasn't even close, I figured it was a gimme.
The first fight was in Araujos home town and the decision was close af considering Araujo won 9/10 rounds. The second fight in Cordoba even at the home gym of Clavero as it seems and he got the win of course. I really was absolutely blind to see that, too. I was massively impressed how the first fight went so i didn't even notice that they fight at Claveros home hall where he received two wins via decision in the past. I think we will see a third one here. Funny stuff as Araujo absolutely sure about winning the fight after the last bell and then getting completly destroyed with the score lmao
