Eliminate draws: Boxing needs OVERTIME

Should boxing utilize overtime to eliminate the draw?

    Do you understand the basic concepts of 'more' and 'less'? I said 'more' tactical fights and 'less' wars. It's not difficult to grasp....

    Yes and no. Yes to a 13th round where both fighters will have taken a breather and also fight with more urgency instead of coasting. No to a 15th round for the reason if it's a sucky ass fight I wouldn't be able to tolerate it. 13 rounds fine with me. 15 rounds of a stinker no thanks.

    What if the extra round ends in a draw and so on and so on. That don't make sense. If it is a draw across the board then let the ref break the tie. I don't care for that either but it's better than having the fighters gear back up emotionally for another round that might end with the same conclusion. I like going back to the 15 rounders however because that separates the good from the greats.

    Yeah agree entirely a draw is such an anti-climax they should have tie breaker round.

    Not practical, boxers would have to get ready both physically and mentally for "overtime" and given it is a dangerous sport it could cause unnecessary injury...

    It would take too long to tally up the scorecards and get boxers back into the frey.

    Plus given there isn't that many draws it isn't that big a deal... No the round by round scoring on the other hand...

    this is not a fight to the death. and really its entertainment. 12 rounds the guys have given us our pound of flesh. be thankful and go home happy win loose or draw.

    That pic of De La Hoya after all these years is still too surreal. Such a random picture ODLH must have been coked out of his mind it's just insane, I mean he was a masculine boxer what a crazy sob lol

    It should be like soccer. Instead of a free kicks, it would be free punches with the other fighter's guard down until the one gets KTFO.

    They did this in K-1 kickboxing. It resulted in some of the best rounds in the sports history. I'm all for it.

    If anything is needed to tie break ... make it the winner of the last round.

    Forcing fighters to go another round is a bad idea. Every fight that ends close will have every fighter wondering if they'll need to go again or not.
