Does anyone have an update on Rojas? I know he hurt one of his hands in training camp for the Gamboa fight that was canceled and had surgery on it. He hasn't fought since February of last year... and being signed to Don King doesn't help. The WBC named him 'champion in recess' after the injury, and Jhonny Gonzalez is the new WBC featherweight champ. As 'champion in recess', I'm assuming he can get a shot at Jhonny whenever he comes back. That would be a fun fight, unless he wants to have a tune-up after the surgery. Is he still unable to fight or is he back in the gym?
I said it all along he's the guy who could get Lopez's 0 or even Gamboa's, very good boxer and totally underrated. I believe he's out with kidney stones and might've lost the WBC FW belt in the process which would be dumb as f because the interim title was created for this very reason, but the WBC didn't even bother to hand out one but sanctioned Hasegawa-Burgos for the full belt. But maybe Rojas is Champion Emeritus or in Recess or in Pain or Missing in Action or whatever stupid titles the WBC have. I do hope to see him back in the ring, I think he beats Goznalez comfortably and still could give any top5 a run for their money.
