Sorry i think that is really simplifying a very complicated sport. Endurance is part of boxing but boxing is not endurance only

In my opinion the reason most boxers do long runs is because they see the pros doing it and think they have to because it must do something special as the pros do it! Why do the pros do it? Because the pros before those pros done it. And so on and so on. They never question why they just follow and so it'll continue.

If you want to improve in pretty much any sport anaerobic training is what you should build your training around, not distance running.

I think your spot on, im some ways boxing training seems quite backwards (although i think people are starting to wake up). Its a mentality of if the did it in the good old days then its good enough for us. And every other sport seems to try and evolve as technology and knowledge improves. But majority of boxing doesnt?

Emmauel Steward has all his fighters running. Wlad used to do 6 miles, but reduced recently to about 4.

Thanks for posting. I wonder if the elites get the aerobic part from distance running and anaerobic part from skipping, sparring and hitting the bags?

That's great that Jeff, is this information taken from a book? Which sources would you reccomend and personally would you give us an idea of a running/sprinting regime that you would typically reccomend? I've done too much long distance but got into the sprints and fartlek training before my first fight in December.
