Show Maidana 1 and the punch from Maidana 2 This content is protected Skip to 12:40. That's a KD or KO if it happens at any other point in any round. And that's after Floyd picked the ref and Chino's gloves. Not a Floyd hater but the whole TBE nonsense is irritating. Floyd is an ATG but he loses to SRL, SRR, Duran, Hearns (likely), prime DLH (likely), and would be near even money w Pernell, Pryor, JCC Sr, Napoles, Griffith, Gavilian, Greb, etc. SRR walks away from ATG playoff with best record - and INEC. That's no diss on Floyd cause he'd be above .500 but you cant ignore the fact that JLC1 and Maidana1 (neither of which were elite fighters) arguably beat Floyd or at least shouldve gotten draws. Nor can you ignore that post-prime DLH was a legitimate 7-5 win...makes you wonder how Floyd does against a hungrier Oscar from 5 years prior. And all his other weight classes have equally fierce historical matchups including Arguello, Benny Leonard, Armstrong, Ortiz, Canzoneri, etc.
I never seen this good video, Man Pacquiao was countering the hell out of him while being shouldered/weathered all while the bias commentators tried to make it seem he didn't touch Floyd, It's eye changing watching this fight without any commentators & it further illustrates how he never wanted that prime Pacquiao & also that he wasn't keen on the rematch even though it would have made him boat loads, it's all there.
Mosley landed a big shot on Floyd in their fight but Floyd expertly avoided taking any follow up shots. Floyd was a master of avoiding taking damage.
Floyd worked harder than anyone else in his divisions and he reaped the rewards. He wouldn’t be a top guy in a lot of other eras however and the TBE title is entirely marketing I believe but no less annoying and disrespectful to the fighters who came before him - someone as intelligent in the game as him would know they could beat him.
Fraud Mayweather got his ass handed to him by JLC and Maidana. He DUCKED Antonio Margarito. He fought DLH and Mosley at the tail end of their careers (although not entirely his fault). However, he could have fought Erislandy Lara, Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito, PacMan, Joshua Clottey, Kostya Tyzsu and others in lieu of fighting the likes of Baldomir, Judah (coming off a loss no doubt), Ortiz, Guerrero, and other no hopers.
What do you define as a top guy and what eras do you think Floyd would not be able to be a "top guy" in a division. I agree that there are fighters who could beat a prime Floyd but I personally feel like he would be relevant and competitive in any era.
