Guys who just went into FIGHT and put less emphasis on pointscoring and just went out there and fought like a real street fighter.

Which boxers would you say then, would be best at stand up fighting in a street fight?

Probably some fourth-rate journeymen would be best fighters on the streets, and that's why they never make it far as a professional boxers. They think it's a street fight and can't take advantage of the rules, tactics and strategy of boxing so much.
Unfortunate for them really because they probably had heart and determination and need to be tough on the street, but street fighting will get you in jail or dead and boxing can get you rich.

I'm sure most ELITE boxers would f--k you up on the street though, one punch.

I reckon Duran would be lethal too.

Chuck Wiggins was considered the premier street fighter in his time but he usually fell at the first hurdle when he went in with the top pros

I'd say someone like Nigel Benn would be ideally suited for the cobbles.Fast and a real banger.

Unsurprisingly, George Foreman was known as a scary Bruiser in the Fifth Ward of Houston. George Foreman said that Joe Frazier was one of those guys that you'd be terrified to fight on the street. I have heard, that Muhammad Ali truly was tough as nails and not someone you'd want to mess with.

However, I heard Angelo Dundee in an interview say that the uncontroverted scariest man in a street fight was Sonny Liston. It was funny how quick he was with that answer. There was not a moment of hesitation.

I never heard stories as good as the ones of Chuck, he was a really bad man, maybe today fighters may have some advantages in training, nutrition, etc...but you can't teach that courage of all fighters.
Sadly there isn't footage of Chuck Wiggins.

I always saw Nigel Benn as a savage, he didn't have the skill of Tyson, Duran, Chavez or even Fenech, Benn was raw, the punches he took from the G.Man would have put most men out.

The self proclaimed king of the cobbles Lenny McLean got his ass handed to him whenever he met a decent boxer in the ring....

I wouldn't like to see the damage Shavers would do to a lager lout whilst bouncing on the doors in the UK, and that's whilst being an old man....
