Anybody's ballgame... let's see whose gas tank is better in the second half.

 

Muvud keeping up his game plan of forcing Laryea to fight backing up, while putting out a high volume of reach-in face shots. Muvud scoring well with the jab and ripping some underhanded rights on the belt line. Laryea flurrying in reverse and occasionally standing his ground with a chopping right but can't shift the momentum the other way again now that Muvud's been on the warpath the last couple of rounds.

Both taking big home run swings at each other, telegraphing and missing as the opponent ducks or sways aside. Whoever lands next could make a real dent if they keep at it like this...

 

Muvud landing more with jabs and body shots, but Laryea clapping him with the harder shots, with pinball launchers on either cheek.

Very evenly matched 7th. Might lean Laryea, just.

 

Laryea tries but fails to pin Muvud into a corner, then glances at his corner in a slight panic. Muvud just keeps stepping to him, with the leather flowing. Laryea giving it a think when they separate, in a defensive pose with his left arm bent and the forearm held vertically against his face.

All tied up once again, 76-all.

 

No joke, this fight's terrific.

 

On paper Laryea would seem to have faced the higher quality opposition to date (stopped Daniel Lartey faster than either British prospect Jack "Demolition Man" Rafferty or Hassan Mwakinyo who boasts KO victories over Julius Indongo and Sam Eggington) - yet despite his superior record and stoppage rate, he's the one being put on the run here late.

Impressive motor on Muvud, up 86-85 on my card now.

 

Sounded like they announced some open scoring after the 9th - but it was in French, which isn't my forté.

 

Muvud walking through some heavy left hooks on the jaw and rights on the body to get close and repeatedly jab Laryea between his eyes.

Gum shield accidentally spat out. Replaced quickly so they can resume the last ten seconds of action.

 

Laryea has gotten a bit of a second wind, and is pelting Muvud with left hooks and looping rights, swinging the latter around by his side like a Balearic sling. Even when backing up now, Laryea landing the noticeably cleaner stuff.

Respectful glove touch and mutually appreciative smile from both men before the final round starts, as the crowd does a swaying dance and sings while clapping in unison to hype Muvud up.

 

Laryea keeping a high guard, shuffling away a few steps at a time, popping the jab out regularly to not let Muvud take the play away. Hard body shots from Laryea. Muvud loading up and getting through with some ramrod rights up top. Crowd at a fever pitch. Laryea trots away, then smothers Muvud into the ropes in a clinch. They work their way free with punches without needing referee intervention. Huge overhand right up top by Muvud, then a left hook on the body, overhand right up top again, just repeating this combo. DOWN GOES LARYEA! Ref counts as he tries pushing himself up off his back in the corner. Moments remain in the round. They exchange jabs. What a finish!

114-113 Muvud, the literal last minute knockdown won it for him, for me.

 

"Ç'est magnifique!!" beams the commentator. Amen.

 

It's all love between the corners as they await the decision.
