was watching mosley's fights and for an elite fighter his jab is awful. can't remember seeing an a level fighter like that. i know for an elite calzaghe can't even punch properly.

  2. Wouldn't exactly call Calzaghe elite.

There is a major difference between "fighters" and "boxers".
    Shane Mosley is a fighter.
    Pacman is a fighter.
    Arturo Gatti is a fighter
    Mickey Ward is a fighter

    Andre Ward is a Boxer.
    Andre Dirrell is a Boxer.
    Velero was a boxer.
    Floyd Mayweather is a Boxer.

Joe Calzaghe can't throw a proper punch and is not to be confused with an ELITE fighter as much as a great marketing manipulated promotion of his manager, Frank Warren.

i think mosley's heart is a fighter but he's more of a boxer puncher. but i agree gatti and ward are fighters.

roy had a style of it's own that practically goes against what trainers tell students to do. ali had a style that broke the rule but there's no denying he had a beautiful jab.

It's funny because I agree Mosley's jab sucks but I remember Burt Sugar talking about how Mosley was the master jabber. I think it was in the lead up to Pac/Cotto, Burt Sugar was talking about how impressive Cotto was when he out jabbed Mosley because Mosley was the "master jabber". It goes to show you how much Burt Sugar knows.

Valero a boxer, yet Pacquiao's a fighter? pacquiao's shown more boxing skills than that caveman nutjob ever did.

Roy's jab was not bad... it was good, he just was uncomfortable using it as I believe he felt it left him susceptible to being hit. He was way more comfortable leading with his right hands, left hooks, etc... it worked for him and his athleticism and style.

That was only Roy's second pro fight. And Griffin is a bad example, he was a very wiry awkward type of fighter that had the ability to make anyone look worse than they were, even when they beat him.

And he was successful in the first Tarver fight countering with the jab after Tarver would jab, and watch the Ruiz fight, Roy used the jab effectively several times. Also, he used a few times against Hopkins when they fought the first time.

He had a good jab, when he used it.

Unfortunately when I see a boxer with a poor jab I tend not to view them as Elite. They might be good and even hold a belt but it's really hard to label them Elite without a solid jab.
