Yeah, I don't know how one could consider Valero a boxer rather than brawler and then say Pac is a brawler.

Cooney had a jab that couldn't break wind.

I rank him very high, but I've also been up and down on him over the years. Every time I think he's doing well he goes and takes a loss, then when I think he's down and out he pulls out a great win.
He goes and makes his own life harder because of his lack of jab.
Close fight with DLH, Losses to Forest, Winky and Cotto all because of his lack of jab.

absolutely agreed. i just find him very inconsistent, and i agree if he had a nice jab, he'd be an ATG and even given floyd problems. i want to make i didn't say he'd beat floyd but he'd be more cometitive, as even his uncle said to beat floyd you need to have a good jab.

So is Shane Mosley not an elite fighter in your opinion?

In his last fight with DeMarco, Velero showed us his defensive skills that were much more polished than Pacman's. Pac throws punches in bunches but does very little on the defensive side to protect himself against real counterpunching boxers like Mayweather.
In that fight Velero also showed how he could turn a opponent in the middle of the ring and counter on the step.

Most people SAY that Pacquiao is a boxer/puncher but they are wrong. Pac is almost purely a brawler, with a little boxing technique thrown in instilled by recent trainers, but as Flouyd Mayweather Sr. recently pointed out, Freddie Roach is no boxing teacher anymore than Manny Stewart is. They both train brawlers.

Although Cooney is certainly no elite, he did have a much better jab than people give him credit for. Much better than someone like Tommy Morrison or Joe Calzaghe.

That's gash. Pacquiao has MUCH better defense than he's given credit for. That's by his movement alone. Pacquiao's a LOT more than just a brawler. Brawling didn't beat Cotto, it was a combination of things.

Pacquiao has the best movement in boxing. When you have that, your defense is already much better than... a guy who really hasn't fought anyone of top class.

one step shy, if you will. I think his career reflects that, always chasing Greatness and it always seem to be just one step ahead.

naw, I take that back. That's what I mean, I'm always up or down on him. Here's there, somewhere on the line. I think I'd be crazy if I said he wasn't elite but I keep seeing bad matchups for him just because he doesn't jab and looks sloppy against those who can.

being a fighter doesn't mean you have a bad jab, best exemple: Mike Tyson, his jab was great

So he gives you examples of Jones using his jab and all you do is talk about his opponents? He used the jab against Clinton Woods as well and Virgil Hill... mind you it is not the best jab in the world, but the point is it was not a bad one. In the Griffin fight he his jab was pathetic, he was desperately trying to land a right hand as Griffins odd style had him off his game big time early on.
