I'm not sure about $5 million but he definitely signed a multi million dollar pro contract VERY early in his pro career.

Paul Gonzalez was an outstanding Amatuer and Gold Medalist, Val Barker award of the Great 84 olympic team he completely dominated everyone on his way to a gold medal, had high expectations for the Pros was predicted to win 5 titles in the pros(he never won one) he had bad hands and seemed to loose his once great skills after long layoffs.

I know some other things too ( i trained at the same gym as him) he seemed to loose the fire and after so many injuries to his hands, also was not a good puncher but magnificent skills and super tall for a fly 5-9. Had a win over fellow prospect Orlando Canizales early in his career, but lost in a rematch for the title.

    Mark Breland has been mentioned.
Andrew Maynard was a gold medalist and not to good as a pro
    Jerry Page^
    Sean Osullivan ^
Kelcie Banks was a Celebrated amatuer but not much as a pro
    Willie Dewitt
Howard Davis- was a top contender and good fighter but was more highly regarded than even Sugar Ray Leonard.
Jorge Gonzalez- Huge flop had wins over Lewis,Bowe and some other big names in the amatuers.

After putting up a spirited effort vs Fenech he was pretty much a journeyman/fringe contender. I heard he died a few years back.

I was real impressed with "Fast" Eddie Hopson who had a great amatuer career and who i thought was robbed in the trials against Kelcie Banks.

He reminded me alot of Meldrick Taylor but he was a small JL and had a glass jaw. Won a title but was kod by Tracy Patterson in his first defense.

He certainly qualifies although I don't know if the expectations for him were as astronomical as for some of the others. Many people would like to have seen him have a shot at Hagler although we all know what the outcome most likely would have been.

Sir, you and Anarci are on a roll!!!!! Hell yeah. :bbb

Yey good call John, i was real impressed with Ramos as an amater, I was a kid back then but i remember him and my dad was all on his bandwagon. Dont know what happen to him he was mediocre and at his best a lower top 10 contender. Just didnt have the skills he did as an amatuer seems like he regressed.

Raul Marquez was a decent Pro but i expected more of him. He was a better amatuer.

Pepe Reilly- huge flop this guy was tearing it up in the amatuers, big puncher but he got stopped by a couple of clubfighters in the pro and ended up with an unimpressive record.

David Guittierez- gave Mark Breland all he could handle in the amatuers and was undeafeated as a pro , i think he had an career ending injury but not sure on that.

Augie Sanchez - was an awesome amatuer and i believe beat Mayweather but lost to him in the trials. Had all the skills and a big punch but one of the worse chins ive ever seen.

Terrence Cauthen- good skills and Silver medalist, but a top 20 at best in his prime.
