In todays boxing generation there seems to be no elite fighters who can end a fight with a single punch. I think the reason that may be is because most fighters these days seem to try to work at being an all around type fighter, nobody wants to be accused of being one dimensional so what reason do you guys think that elite one punch ko artists seem to be on the verge of extinction?

Haye and Klitschko come to mind as guys who can end the fight with one shot.

I said "on the verge of extinction'' meaning that I realize that they are a few still out there.

I don't think there have ever been that many elite one punch ko artists it only tends to be a select few at a time.

i didnt realize they were so common in the past that having only a few today borders on extinction, but then again i have only been following boxing since the late 70s

Umm.. there has NEVER been a ton of one punch KO type fighters. Even the guys known for having one-punch KO power very seldom showed off a true one-punch KO.

It's almost impossible to KO a guy with one punch at the top level, don't care WHO you are.

A lot of the one punch KO's you see were from a tomato can OR from a guy who didn't see the punch coming, not always as much about the guy throwing the punch's power.

Well it's safe to say that they were more in the past than it is now.

Yeah, when I think of one punch ko's I think of a fighter that can turn around the fight toward a ko with one punch. Fighters I think fit this category are Haye and Khan.
Pacquiao as well, of course, though its been harder to see his power in his last fights.
Even Tito needed a series of hooks to eventually bring down an opponent.

It'd be safe to say you are wrong.

That's a totally false and baseless statement.
