Ok your logic makes zero sense. You're quoting a fight figures that did less than what Floyd's LAST fight did.

I know, I know what you're going to say.

"That wasn't totally Floyd, that was Ricky Hatton" and I'd say ok but....

Domestically (US) that fight did 850,000 buys. More than double the rate of most boxing ppvs.

in the UK the fight did 1.4 million buys.

Now one could easily see two things in that. The average US person doesn't know who Ricky Hatton is/was so I doubt they bought the fight for him. Or perhaps they hate Floyd so much they want to see him lose. That said, you can DEFINITELY attribute the EUROPEAN buy rate to HATTON.

The point is, whether you like him or not Floyd DEFINITELY had a VERY significant IMPACT on the high buyrate of that fight. Whether or not his appearance on that dance show factored into it (I believe even if he got a half percent of the 20 million that watch that program it was a factor), the fact he's Hated by most, etc is up for debate. But the NUMBERS don't LIE!!

So, no repercussions for taking the break, huh. Sounds like a great deal!!!!

Hasn't fought a WW in, what, going to be 2 years now? Yup, that's my champ alright! :patsch

Linearity is lost. Who took the lineal WW title from Tito? Exactly... if someone vacates the division, then a "new linear champ" can be crowned. Floyd's absence from the division (no need to play dumb, you've heard Floyd himself say that he isn't interested in fighting welterweights) can certainly apply.

I agree with this. He has every right to go for the big $ match-ups. And we have every right to not consider him the best given his competition/match-making. These sideshow matches aren't that big a deal to me as long as he isn't considered the best in a division he wants no part of.

This isn't just Cotto's promoter talking ****. Everyone wants to see Floyd challenged by the top WW.

And don't play dumb w/ the offer. Promoters/advisers talk... if you don't think an approach has already been made for a Cotto/Floyd fight then I don't know what to tell you. You omit that Floyd, since winning the ww belt, has dismissed the Cotto fight at every single opportunity. Doesn't that in itself let you know that, you know, Floyd doesn't want the fight right now?

BTW, I am sure Floyd is not afraid of Miguel Cotto. I am SURE of it. But he is taking the easy money right now.

...and everyone STILL forget's the Bob Arum angle that's stopping this fight.

When Cotto calls out Floyd I'll believe he wants that fight.

Cotto doesn't want Floyd, he want's Oscar and the cash that comes with it.

Pretending like a top boxer needs to "call out" another boxer to get a fight is childish.

Sometimes it helps marketting but its way less important than most think.

There is always a market for the two best fighters in a weight division to fight.

This is what is wrong with Boxing - all the fans want Cotto-PBF (maybe some scared PBF don't want it) and yet it may not ever happen. Why? Because of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

$ and greed destroys not only society but sports too!
