I would expect nothing else from Ellerbe. I don't think Floyd has any closer friend except for 50 Cent. Wasn't there an interview where Floyd said meeting Ellerbe was the 'happiest day of his life'? (And Ellerbe said 'tears came to my eyes'.)

When Floyd was crying after the Baldo fight, it was Ellerbe hugging him when he broke down. When Floyd was getting into a scuffle with Mosley at a press conference, it was also Ellerbe that charged up to help him. When Merchant and Floyd got into that argument after the Ortiz bout, you can also see how upset Ellerbe is, and he joins in and barks things at Merchant too. It's kinda weird, but at least he seems genuinely devoted, rather than the typical sort of leech that hangs around big fighters.

 

I wouldn't expect anything less from a committed life-partner.
