Ellis at this point had beat Johnny Persol in 1 round stopped Leotis Martin decisioned Bonavena decisively beat Quarry clearly. He would go on to beat Floyd Patterson to defend his title. How would it go with Braddock who made a comeback as a heavy similar to Ellis and had beat a few decent fighters before the big upset vs Baer to win the title. Both were tough if not overly powerful but smart boxer types.

Ellis better athletically and very well trained and had a fairly accomplished amateur career would be too sharp for Braddock. However Braddock is skilled and tough and survives to lose a decision in a 10 or even 12 round fight.

Jimmy Ellis is too well-rounded and too sharp of a puncher to lose this. I don’t think he stops Braddock, who was tougher than a $2 steak, but he beats him up pretty good.

I think Ellis was quicker and a match for Braddock for power.I take him to win a decision.
