Paige would be a great replacement - yet another guy who has actually worked as a boxing writer and therefore knows something about the sport!!!:yep

Wouldn't this be much more of a hater request than a fanboy request? :huh:lol:

True that... and there are A LOT of fanbois on here and every other message board. It's natural to get behind a particular fighter or fighters, but this is ridiculous.

Kellerman sounds abrassive to me, but he just seems like a certain type of New Yorker who I always seem to run into. I'm from the South and those reall pushy, intense types always make me start feeling unfortable. I can't say EVERY person I've met from the New York/North Jersey area is like that, many are cool people. Still I've met a TON of people that sound just like Kellerman from that area. I always took his tone and seeming discourtesy as the typical New Yorker attitude .... at least what I've seen exported, having never lived there.

I always thought Kellerman was too full of himself on ESPN...still, I don't want a "yes" man who reads from an HBO approved telestrator.

Yeah. The whole point of having a commentating crew is to get different opinions. I guess now if you say that you think a fighter got a good win, but it's not something that you consider to be a career defining, massive win, you should be fired.

Like I said earlier: the guy just said what he thought was the case. I thought Castillo looked like shot fighter before this fight. This fight showed that he was. I think he said basically the same thing I thought about the fight, but in that completely incourteous "Pushy New Yorker" that gets under my skin.

I'd say that Castillo looks to be on a fast downward decline, but Hatton should still get credit for beating him in a very decisive fashion. Most serious analysts didn't give Castillo any chance of winning, but few people called for an absolute destruction like we saw. I think Kellerman would be getting a lot less grief if he would have just phrased what he said differently... then I guess he wouldn't be Max Kellerman, though.

Also, all the people claiming he has "no qualifications" have a pretty bad argument, too. Most sports commentators don't have pro sports experience... they have commentating experience, and Max has quite a bit of it. HBO's formula is to have a blow-by-blow guy (Lampley), an expert analyst (Manny), and a color commentator (Merchant/Kellerman). I personally think the combination works well. I don't really like Kellerman that much, but I'm not going to play in some stupid email campaign to fire him. I can think of 100 things in the world that are more important than Max Kellerman.

Name me ONE other color commentator who did not work as a boxing journalist, or was a participant in professional boxing. There isn't ONE. Kellerman IS utterly unqualified, and it shows. HBO - the flagship network of boxing - needs someone better. Al Bernstein would be the perfect choice.

Send those emails - HBO will bow to public pressure!!

A "yes" man is just what Kellerman is. He is the most predictable commentator out there in that he i not guided by what happens, but by his own nationalistic bias.

In fights between two americans he is guided by what he thought before the fight.

He is simple, annoying and a waste of space.

Kellerman is a legend in his own mind. His delivery is condescending and annoying. He is no more qualified than a ******ed field mouse.I thought HBO had more class than this but is falling into "shitck" over substance.
    My e-mail has been sent.:good

    Is it?

Then I guess CNN needs to hire a Kellerman.

    Bush Addressing the nation"

CNN commentator 1: "And now the president entered the room"
CNN Kellerman: "No he did not, he left the hallway - furthermore THAT is NOT the president. And if it is then he is doing a bad job.. or a hell of a job, depending on what you think... bla bla"

No, obviously the idea is to cover boxing in the best way possible. Be informative while entertaining.

    Kellerman is neither.

He is just in that blind angle of dumbness.
