Not a bad fight. IThe cards were surprisingly legit and the announcers were as clueless as expected. Stevenson makes Navarette look like an amateur. He’s long but so slow and predictable.. His size and awkward style is enough to beat lesser talent but I’m not sold on this guy.

115-111. Villa can beat most guys in this division. Navarette is just different.

Shakur beats Navarette. And it probably won’t be close.

Still don't care for his slow, disheveled and uneconomical style, but props to Navarrete for having quite an impressive pair of previously undefeated scalps now in Dogboe and Villa.

Navarrete isn't close to being different, sans the KD's Villa would have won. This was Villa's first real step up opponent and one that can punch, who has a style that would give him problems. Not taking anything away from Villa, he did beautifully, but Navarette is going to be massacred at Featherweight.

I'm almost upset that he was the one B-side who had a real chance to win by fair decision and didn't quite pull it off.

Hot take: Navarrete is basically just Jesus Soto Karass with way less skill and way more p4p power. :nusenuse:

When I say different I’m talking about his awkwardness and punch power. No he will not beat Shakur or Russell or Warrington.

Villa showed a clear blueprint to win, which is survive the first 6 rounds and punch on the breaks.

Villa seems to have the Malignaggi hands but someone with a harder hook could maybe knock Navarrete out if he can survive long enough to land it.

I saw the "different" comment and missed the other. Which would imply he's special. And great you said Stevenson would beat him, and? I wouldn't expect you to say anything different. Glad to see you said Russell and Warrington would too in your response.

Oh yeah true, both would've been three point swings (10-9 for him instead of 10-8 Navarrete).

I was impressed by Villa's resolve to claw his way back into it after a disastrous start getting dropped in the first and then again in the fourth. He has nice skills and I always respect a fighter who picks themselves up off the canvas after suffering an early KD, especially more so if they touch down 2 or 3 times, unless that is I dislike the fighter and if that's the case I'm going to **** on them and give them zero credit.
