I read that too. His sister said yesterday he was still alive and that there's "no shadow above his head."

That I assume meant that he wasn't close to dying either. Let's hope the rumours are false and he is indeed still with us.

Given the amount of informed sources who have tweeted, I fear it's only a matter of time before it is official.

    Devastating loss for the sport.

No confirmation, seen somewhere that Banks jumped the gun and he still might be alive but just speculation at moment.

    RIP

Taken too soon and so fast, I cannot believe it. I can't remember the last time I saw or heard Steward but this seems to have happened so quickly...

shows how prescious life can be. 68 is very young. Hopefully he is blessed to be in a better place.

No smoke without fire. He must be in a very bad state for people to say what they are saying, if he is still alive then there is hope, but the days may be numbered if he really is that ill.

This would be a real shame, always enjoy hearing what he has to say.

Seems all the legends are dieing off at the minute :-(

Really sad news, without doubt one of the greatest trainers of all time, thoughts are with his family.

I enjoyed his commentary also, especially the Ward/Gatti fights.

'Thats where he needs to go, to the body!!' Class!
