Yep. I disagree. The problem is too many guys fighting at heavyweight when they should stay at cruiser. If a guy is naturally about 210 he should be boiling down to make CW. If he's bigger then by all means fight at heavy. A guy who naturally fights around 220 shouldn't be at too big a disadvantage. A guy who fights at 200 shouldn't be putting on 10 or 20 pounds to fight at heavy. People need to realise that moving from CW to HW isn't the same as moving from MW to SMW

Yeah, let's make a division for the Klits, average Helenius and....Tyson Fury?!? :patsch

If the smaller Heavyweights weren't **** then this wouldn't be a problem.

Cruiserweight is a bull**** division. Cut that out, give the division more depth, make the big boys fight more regularly and it's even.

I agree with a superheavyweight division. The only problem is how many guys who are quality would fight there. Then the heavyweights would be a great division with Adamek and Haye and others.

Now thinking in H2H terms, Haye & Chambers should win against the 5 superheavyweights not called Klitschko, unless they are caught by a deadly haymaker from Helenius. Adamek & Povetkin should beat Dimitrenko, Thompson, Fury & Pulev... but get KO'd late while ahead on the cards against Helenius. The K bros soundly beat the other 14 men on both lists, i know.

Four more HW champs is a disaster for this sport.

If Adamek and Haye settled for that, they would have stayed at cruiserweight. It would lead to us seeing hilariously bloated versions of the two challenging the Klitschko brothers and doing even worse in Ray Austin and Kirk Johnson type performances.

I think Chambers-Dimitrenko showed that no matter how much smaller, if you have the ability you can beat these average super heavyweights. The problem is that the Klitscshko brothers are no average super heavyweights.

Of course I agree ... there is a reason weight classes exist ... why don't welters fight light heavyweights on a regular basis ? There are the rare, occasional fighter that can sacrifice so much size and weight based on specific match ups but as a whole on the vast majority the size differences are major issues ... everyone immediately thinks Dempsey - Willard but Willard was no Klitschko in skill and he was 37 and highly inactive when he fought Dempsey ...

I believe Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Liston, Louis, Tyson, Holyfield had the size, styles and skills to match up with anyone ... today they would all fight heavier and match up well ... however I feell the rest, even though many were far better pound for pound than many bigger guys, have the wrong styles and too much to over come physically ...

exactly HE, we need a S-HW division, but we don't another division, in fact we need less, and it could be very easily achieved.

see my earlier post for proposed 12 weight divisions.

Honestly, who would be there to fight? They would run out of contenders at superheavyweight. I could then see bigger heavyweights blowing up to contend at superheavyweights. It would do more harm than good for the heavyweight division.

Splitting the current heavyweight division into two divisions would be utterly stupid.
People already complain about the lack of talent and lack of interesting potential match-ups, so why dilute that further ?

If Dempsey was around today, as he was then, he'd be fighting at cruiserweight, or possibly as a light-heavyweight.

Anyone under 200 pound doesn't have to fight heavyweights any more anyway. In fact, taking weigh-in methods in to account, anyone who gets in the ring at <205 or 210 is well capable of making cruiser, and isn't force to fight in the open division.

In other words, most of the 210 - 220 heavyweights just aren't good enough to beat a Lewis or a Klitschko.

But by the same token, most 240 pound 6'6 fighters aren't good enough to beat and Ali or a Holyfield.

I agree but there is an obvious trajectory here ... the men are getting bigger and bigger ... The last champion below 200 was Patterson over fifty years ago ... maybe there is not a need for another division but theres little doubt the day of a 185 pounder ruling the roost is over ...

As long as weigh ins occur 48 hours from the fight it might be argued that being unable to weigh in 200lbs while severely dehydrated and trim is big enough. Even then I am for lowering the cruiserweight limit back to 190 lbs and defining the heavyweight limit 2b 210lbs.
Otherwise , if weigh ins occur immediately prior to entering the fight like it should be , the need for a SHW division is yet even bigger.
