Just my 2 cents, buuuut Cotto needs to learn HOW to clinch! It seems that he is incapable of the art. Mosley did a great job on Marg. because he knew when to clinch. But at this point, any trainer other than the last two is a step up!
why not billy graham? he brings out your best offense.....and has expierence working with body punchers..... I could see cotto hitting on the body bag
He always does that....he is biased and it shows.....he kept saying that Clottey was in control of the whole fight and winning on every point since the knock down . Then Lampley corrected him and he had that sheepish laugh. He did the same when Cotto fought Judah and Mosley. Seeing a pattern here ( he does it while being complimentary to Cotto that he has grit ....ect....you know the old decoy talk )
actually in the judah and mosley fight he was all up in cottos ass he even said he thinks cotto has faster handspeed than mosley!
Ummm, he doesn't teach DEFENSE! Cotto's main flaw is he's too susceptible for the UPPERCUT! He also doesn't know how to clinch. He's a good boxer with better than average power.
I think Marshal Kauffman would make a great trainer for Cotto. He trained his son Trav from the start as an amateur all the way to several national amateur titles. Unbeaten as a pro at 17-0 14 ko's. Also took Cintron from never having boxed to a record of 24-0 22kos and a world title in under 5 yrs. If you look at Travis and Cintron they are polar opposites as far as styles. Kermit is a puncher... Travis a boxer puncher. Kermit was far more effective asa fighter under Kauffman, and Travis is a great boxer. Can fight effectively from conventional and southpaw stance. Proves Marshall is not one dimensional as a trainer.
I couldn't agree more. Steward is self-promoting POS. He doesn't care for his fighters only how much money he can get outta them. **** him Cotto can find a better trainer elsewhere.
