What a joke of a statement, especially considering Hopkins landed the majority of the CLEAN, FLUSH punches.

Hardcore Calzaghe nuthuggers tend to bring it with a very special blend of self-righteousness and selective memory. All in all, they are easily worse than the Klittites.

Maybe they are confusing the Hopkins with the Jones fight. Jones was outboxed from pillar to post, but Hopkins was not.

Hopkins is my favorite fighter, but Calzaghe DID beat Hopkins.

Danny Rand, you're a hater. Every post you make is hatin on someone.

    Damn...

Anyway, ya'll need to youtube that fight. Hopkins was landing well in the beggining, and was accurate throughout the fight, but Calzaghe was landing plenty of REAL punches too, and he was applying more pressure than Hopkins' stamina was equiped to deal with.

It's a possiblity that Hopkins underestimated Calzaghe and didn't train hard enough, but more than likely Hopkins as a 44 year old man just didn't have the capability to compete with the stamina of a much younger man with the versatility of Calzaghe.

Calzaghe isn't just a plodder like Ornales for instance who is predictable and ordinary, Calzaghe uses angles, and movement, along with excellent stamina, plenty of feints and a wealth of experience to beat opponents.

Calzaghe didn't dominate Hopkins and no one ever has, but he did decisively beat him, and to be honest, Hopkins looked like he took some breathers in the fight as well because as soon as Calzaghe started pouring it on and breaking through Hopkins defense, Hopkins got hit with low blows and took more time than seemed to be necessary to regain his energy.

Either way, it was a clear Calzaghe victory. ****, even compubox sided with Calzaghe who did land plenty of clean straight left hands.

With all the bull**** you spew Danny Rand, like (the way to beat Dirrell is with wild haymakers rather than straight punches), it seems like you either don't know what the hell you're talkin about or you're just on here to ride dick and talk ****.

I don't know why people still bring this fight up, it was a poor performance from both guys, you had two spoilers spoiling each other. Neither side should be proud of their fighter.

It's a shame that Calzaghe is hated on so much on this site considering he was a very good if not great fighter.

Even Mayweather, a guy who never gives anyone props said the guy was a great boxer.

I don't see how it's something that's hard to see...

**** do you cry about euro/brits everytime an American loses.and im Australian btw but i bet they're competent enough to know how to spell competent.Hopkin was outworked he landed the more meaningful punches but Joes workrate was too much and the pitter patter punches still count.thank god it was in the US and not UK or we would have Danny Rand crying like a little girl with a skinned knee thread about brit/euro judges thread #999.:patsch

    I disagree.

I think both men executed their game plans perfectly, but styles make fights, and Bernard wasn't exactly a young man.

Good post, I read that fight the same way. People underrate the work Calzaghe did, he landed a lot more than they claim.
