from what i understand he's basically interim. He can fight for the Cruiserweight title when he wants

So even if he fights at heavyweight in his next fight and gets beat he can then move back down to cruiserweight again and fight for the title not a bad situation to be in thanks for the reply

yeah thats right. Its a ridiculous concept though, this emeritus, coz Vitali Klitsckho is still emeritus champ so if he comes out of retirement he's Wilders mandatory

Surely the emeritus status should only last a certain period of time or be taken off you if you retire

you'd like to think so but no, boxing continually throws up ideas that make you go "wtf?"

Ridiculous that Tony ****ing Bellew can be an Emiratus champ. Thought that was for retirees, like Floyd and Vitali. Bellew defended his belt once against Flores. Comical.

Which is fine and I can understand that but vacating the title should be enough. His done nothing to warrant such a status as to challenge for the title whenever he sees fit.

He's never fighting at cruiserweight again. He wants one shot at the heavyweight title. And win or lose that will be it.

This is bizarre because Drozyd was supposed to be emeritus champion when Belles faced Makubu. The WBC do this for their good earners I think Floyd is still an emeritus champion as we speak.

Vitali Klitschko is the WBC emeritus champion and could knock Wilder out now........................but he is the mayor of the 8th largest city in Europe, Kiev, so he has to protect Ukraine from Putin and Trump..............
